bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted December 22, 2013 So you have to take it off and put it on the ground to add/remove items.
Frell 80 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) Uh actually I'd take one strap off and unzip it while walking and reach in real quick, I did this at school all the time for my phone. But that detail is a little excessive on animators so its no big deal. I just don't want them to need to be taken off, this would be a drag and drop simulator 2014 Edited December 22, 2013 by Frell
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted December 22, 2013 That sounds ridiculously clunky and unnecessary.
bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted December 22, 2013 I just think it's a bit much that we can pull any and all items instantly from our packs, even on the move. Unholstering pistols from the backpack? WTF Is that nonsense? In real life you have to take off a backpack to get at all the items, sure smaller items can be pulled from pouches, but maybe those can be added to the game in the form of pockets on the pack. If you want the 35 slot section, you have to stop and take it off. To make things a bit easier while on the move, taking the pack into your hands would open it up in your inventory screen. You could then drag things into the other areas(shirt, pants, etc), but still not be able to use your hands until the pack is closed and on your back. DannyDog 532 Posted December 22, 2013 It would be nice to see some animations of your character taking off the bag and opening it and what not.Maybe even whilst running you put the straps around your back and put the bag infront whilst running so you can run and look into your bag at the same time. bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted December 22, 2013 I agree, some nice animations for digging in the bag would be great. But, I would still argue that you need to stop what you're doing with your hands and make an effort to access the items inside. If we just made the backpacks work like the containers do, it would achieve the same goal with just a minor tweak of the code. It would be a good place to start in seeing how people deal with less readily accessible storage space. Currently there's no strategy in what goes where.
