What opens cans?

Recommended Posts

Hi!  I had a wood splitting axe and that seemed to open cans but when I upgraded to a fireman's axe, I can no longer seem to open cans.  Also I see tons of seemingly useless tools:

Screwdriver: what for?

Pliers: what for?

Pipe wrench: what for?

Knife: what for?

Adjustable wrench: what for?

I am, after getting tons of gear, close to passing out (death essentially) because I cannot open cans.

What opens cans besides the difficult to find can opener?

Thanks!

Most of those tools act as weapons.

Pliers have no use though.

try everything you find with a blade including the screwdriver.

I found two can openers in Elektro before a guy I waved to earlier came back with a pipe wrench and motorbike helmet :/ damn dirty bandits.

The knife, screwdriver, and axe can all open cans. I've heard, and it's been said above, that the bayonet can also be used to open cans. The only cost, of course, is that you lose a bit of the food in the can, but it's acceptable when you're starving if you ask me.

Just drag the respective tool onto the can you want to open, it should have an orange highlight around it to indicate they can be used together, and it will give you the option to open the can. This also damages knives and screwdrivers if I'm not mistaken, unsure about the axe.

You should never have issues getting those cans open now. I hope you eat well next time you play.

These are the ones i've tried so far that work and roughly the amount of food that is lost.

Kitchen knife  25-30%

Screw driver   25-30%

Hatchet,        45-50%

and of course the can opener 0%

The M4 bayonet can also be used, not sure how much food you lose though.

Also the pipe wrench isn't such a bad weapon with a bit of practice, better than the shovel and crowbar at least.

You guys seem awfully unanimous that bayonets work. I tried earlier today, and unless I didded a derp - which I am fairly certain I did not - it doesn't work.

Also: My fireaxe opening of a can of spaghetti yielded 39%, so I guess you can bump that last percentage, Fluxley.

Was that the M4 bayonet?, its more like a combat knife really, or the long mosin one though?

And by hatchet i meant the wood splitting axe, not tried the fireaxe yet.

Yeah, the long mosin one is the one that didn't work. Didn't see you wrote M4 bayonet. The combat knife I can confirm working  :)
