Can I have a private server in standalone?

No paying, no complex steps, can I easily just click something and be in a my own server, all alone? This is what will keep me from buying if I can't. I wanted DayZ to be just me and maybe a friend, not having to deal with random people to kill me for no reason, and to just explore and survive.

Not is the current Alpha build i believe, but maybe the future might allow it.

No we cannot; at this time; have private hive servers. It has been discussed for us to have them in the future but may be a long way away.

IMO, the whole point/fun of the game is surviving and meeting new people. Good and bad, it's all part of the experience.
