knar33 158 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) It seems that some servers consistently reset your character data. I want to make a list of servers that wipe character data so people can avoid them, and a list of servers that are safe to join. Right now I use my second account to check a server before I join, and I'll be using him to check a bunch of servers this weekend. If you know any servers that fall into either category, post them here and I'll get a list going. halcyonmaus 1 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Yes! So glad to see others addressing this issue; it seems that some servers that aren't genuinely whitelisted are showing up regardless. I've lost 5 well-geared toons so far and it's infuriating. When I get back home later tonight I'm going to start running through a bunch of servers with a fresh spawn and check which ones save over and which don't so I can't +Favorite the safe servers. Once I have several confirmed I'll post them in this thread -- good idea, OP. Hopefully this problem gets fixed soon. FYI, I've been careful to only join servers with the current version # listed and even tried sticking to the mass servers (i.e. US - East hosted by by Gameserver, etc.) and they are NOT necessarily safe, at all. Chauz 166 Posted December 22, 2013 Had it happen to me once, dindt really figure out why (did just click a random server and dindt even see the name). Might find a pattern here. Gj on the thread.

U.G.N - Jedi Panda 1319 Posted December 25, 2013 i dont quite get this. surely if a server can access the official dayz database (i.e it loads your global character) then it must already be whitelisted...?
halcyonmaus 1 Posted December 26, 2013 The problem is servers showing up in the standard whitelist that aren't actually communicating with the global hive, so you go on that server (or are on one, and leave it) you get fresh spawned and lose everything. HIHBGaming 14 Posted December 26, 2013 It's a bug and obviously not the server Admins fault. The title and the way things are put in this thread seems to come off like the Admins are intentionally doing so. Maybe you could say "You may or may not" lose gear connecting to these servers. In saying that, gear loss should be a given due to the state of the game. Also, to put these servers in a negative light by making this list I think is the wrong thing to do. If it's a disconnection from the hive; by one cause or another; it may or may not be a consistent thing, this would leave the list as not very reliable and kinda pointless. Yes, it is intentional for some servers/hosts. One whose name started with "Epsilon" gave no warning whatsoever until you have already joined in, then the loading text says "Your character will be deleted." What a POS. Hope that person dies in a fire. Slowly. That douche stole about 40 hours worth of equipment from me. So yes, for a POS host to put up a server and not mention what he knows for a fact will happen if you join is BS and most certainly intentional.

That's interesting, how exactly does one "delete a character?" I'm a renter/admin/host and there is no such button on any of my screens. If someone has "hacked" the backend then yes they should be removed/shutdown. However I can say that even joining my own server I have had my character reset for no reason on several occasions. I just chocked it up to connection issues and started over. Seriously it only takes about an hour or two to re-gear in this game right now anyway.
