Is it just me or did the video look abit staged???? coming from behind and running straight in front of the other survivor.

Everybody knows the crossbow is the most accurate weapon..

OP, if you want to convince people about bandit skins, the video does nothing. I would have shot you too. You were running around and unpredictable. You probably startled the dude too. You know what can be dangerous in this game? People acting stupid and unpredictably. All I see is a video of a guy removing a potential threat.

You could of told easily if you would've just stopped and tried to listen for heart beats' date=' or if you just ran away. Running away would've been the easier simpler idea.

Let's get back to the discussion of why bandit skins were removed in the first place, shall we?

What it looks like is Rocket wants this to basically be a "zombie apocalypse simulator" and wants full realism. In this case, it's not realistic for you to tell someone's personality just because they wear a certain outfit.

I used Bose qc-15's I didnt hear any heartbeat. The heartbeat humanity system is why I ran directly next to him in the first place.

And okay, very valid point, not every bad guy is gonna wear a face skii mask and a bag with a dollar sign on it. I think there should be an alternative, maybe the heartbeat system but increased range?

And that is why I would like there to be a system to differentiate the people that "remove potential threats" from the people that "make potential friends" in a more obvious manner. It's almost like you get punished for trying to group up by default.

If you did not intend to engage him and did not know his intentions' date=' why are you running toward him in the open instead of taking cover and trying to use direct communications to make contact and ascertain his intent?

Why are you that close to someone whose intentions you have not verified?

Why would you turn your back on someone whose intentions you have not verified?

Why did you make no attempt yourself to indicate that you were friendly and weren't yourself about to turn around and start firing at any moment?

Why are you running along the coastline at spawn instead of directly inland to cover, supplies and much more likely survival scenarios?

Failing all of these things, why are you surprised you got your careless little brain pierced like a pig on a spit? What do you expect when you run around like a linebacker, completely exposed, totally unprotected and completely unaware when there are potentially hostile players in the area?

And why, please oh sweet mother tell me why. Why for one single motherfucking second do you think that the game should help you clean up the ridiculous mess that is your game play by holding your hand and pointing out in giant red letters who you need to avoid and who you can go charging past like a mutt in heat in search of your next eminent and inevitable demise at the hands of zombies. Which, had you survived, I'm sure you would be here complaining about instead.

If you're going to play the game like a bloody idiot, please don't come knocking on rocket's door asking for help. Take the diaper off, grab your favorite soda, sit down, and try really hard to play DayZ again.

Avoid players whose intentions you are unsure of. Make contact in ways other than physically exposing yourself to injury. Gather basic survival supplies, weapons and ammunition quietly in a group you can trust before trying to engage other players. Move quickly and quietly from cover point to cover point. Try to be aware of your surroundings at all times to call incoming player and zombie targets to your friends. Move to meet and then work in a group with at least one other person. If you do not know someone personally whom you can convince to play, try logging in to the teamspeak servers that many, many servers offer free of charge and finding someone there. No, you cannot be sure they will treat you fairly - but it's a much better bet than just randomly stumbling into people in the game. Learn the map and learn how to use the tools to find your way around the map so you can move quickly from one area to the next and effectively meet up with other players based on landmarks, direction, etc. A useful tip is that running 100m takes 20s and the smallest grid lines on the in-game map are 100m apart. So 2 blocks on the map = 40s, 3 is a minute, and so on. Use this to gauge where you are. Travel quietly. Scout ahead before you move. Listen carefully for gunfire. Be vigilant above all things.

Do these things. Do these few simple things. Practice them and when you make mistakes learn from those mistakes and try again.

When you've done all this and still find the game to be frustrating, THEN you may return and start demanding sweeping game design and balance changes.

But as long as you're going to bound down the beach like a kid's birthday clown then please, for the sake of the forums and the future of this game, just shut up and click respawn.

I think the problem is that the game is still at heart a FPS game, which means the killing other players aspect is already fleshed out and ready to go, with all the means to do so.

You REALLY weren't trying very hard to group up in your video. You're basically attacking a straw man here by trying to convince us that video is how it always goes in day z. Hang back, watch him for a bit, when you feel you're ready, call out for friendly in direct comms. Direct is clearly audible up to 60 meters.

Use common sense for fucks sake man. This game does not and never will hold your hand. There are other methods of discerning someones intentions besides artificial methods inserted into the game. The people that don't need these artificial methods are the ones who live the longest.

Do you want me to make evidence and an essay and a presentation? Im showing just one example of how people kill people all the time because they have no reprocussions. I guarantee you if I said "Hey friendly" he wouldve just turned around and shot me. He clearly saw I had no weapon and no intentions of harming him.

Okay so the general concensus is to keep it CoD deathmatch style. No reprocussions for player killing. Keep it kill on site. No co-op unless you use a third party voip system or risk a 98% chance of dying by using direct chat. I understand.

I made the thread to discuss bandit skins. "Why I believe...." Not "Why there should be/needs to be" I also clearly stated that it was my OPINION. I dont even have a can of beans, all I had was a bandage.

Rocket doesnt want the game to purely be pvp, as it is now, shoot on site. I just mistakenly thought bandit skins deterred that.

It isn't purely shoot on site. I think only about a sixth of all people I met after the update where we no longer spawn with weapons shot me on sight, and those times where when I had weapons on me. A vast majority of people I encounter I say "Friendly?" too, they respond with "Yes." and we journey around together for a bit untill one of us dies, or has to leave. Hell, I've had multiple groups of 6+ people during the past few days, just because I talk to them through my mic over Direct Communication, and those instances were the most fun I've had with Day Z so far.

A truly informative suggestion is based on the feelings of the community or at the least a decent sized percentage of it, not just ones personal experience (I.E. you). Bandit skins are completely unnecessary and just take away some of the Realism of this SIMULATOR. Some people will kill you for your gear, some people will kill you out of fear, some people will kill you for fun, and that's what the excitement of Day Z is built on, so get used to it.

As some one who doesn't play as a bandit and gets shot every other day by them, ( some were very impressive kills BTW)

I have to agree, I mean bandits should have bright pink clothing with a flourescent green arrow over thier head. Every kill makes the arrow bigger and pink brighter. At 25 survivor kills the bandits head should grow till you can spot him at the NW airfield from Cherno. That way sniveling impatient fools don't have to learn to play the game, including the risk taking and decision making of trusting another player.

Ever consider it would only help you continue foolish actions? Your not gonna see the skin of the guy 500m away that blows your head off with a DMR.

Funny, I've never been sniped because I'm a tactful player. I assume you speak from experience, so maybe youre the one with the foolish actions. Every time I attempt to co-operate, it just ends in a shootout. Did I say I want a carebare fix? Bandit marker on the map? Nope, I said the skin. The skin isnt any more noticable than a survivor skin.
