WeTheFallen 4 Posted June 22, 2012 I love how screwed you are when you get a broken leg... but its gotten to the point that you should carry mor e morphine than ammo. Either the rate of leg breakage needs to be much more rare, or as common as it is but fades on its own after say 45 mins in game.

WeTheFallen 4 Posted June 22, 2012 This game should seriously be on the commercials for the LifeAlert things.Help' date=' I've fallen one foot and I can't get up![/quote']haha too true.Btw morphine doesnt fix broken legs for all those on the "realisim" bandwagon. A cast/traction splint plus about 8 weeks of downtime does... morphine only relives the pain for an hour or two, but i should be quiet, dont want to give them any more ideas :)
kookucatchu@yahoo.com 0 Posted June 22, 2012 I crawled from Balota airfield to the NW airfield barracks today for morphine. It was a long trek.
GodOfGrain 191 Posted June 22, 2012 With all the running through chernarus, fleeing from zombies or players through thick woods; I am quite sure I would have broken in reality by now :)Of course, that it happens when you crawl between some trees; not realistic. But just imagine: It has not happened when you have run with fullspeed down the hill. So just forgot how it happened, accept it and make up a story for yourself. Maderas 12 Posted June 22, 2012 It is rather annoying when an infected gets one errant swap at you as you pass and it knocks you out, breaks your legs, and causes massive hemorrhaging... especially since the only viable ways to acquire morphine in an emergency is to visit Cherno/Elektro, AKA Deathmatch Lobbies #1 & 2, or crawl for six days to reach Berezino (and possibly still die, since all the people with good gear go there for medical supplies as they're too afraid to go near Deathmatch Lobbies #1 & 2). And I like it.Of course you shouldn't be in the situation that you have to crawl for 6 days.Having at least 2 / 2 on painkiller and morphin is now my top priority. If you break you leg and dont have medication, you are doomed.N1 :)
Forsh 2 Posted June 22, 2012 I managed to break my leg and ligaments simultaneously as I threw an empty coke can from a deerstand to distract some zombies yesterday.Didn't have any morphine, but I did have some wood and bandages..just saying it might have been good to be able to use those in conjunction with painkillers to achieve a similar result to morphine. Medical crafting. Also, a quick comment about not spawning with a watch: Most people own one nowadays, so why does someone who is self-sufficient enough to start on a beach with a backpack and flashlight not bring something as ubiquitous as a watch? It would help players to get a rough idea of which direction they're heading in too.
AveryRichman 0 Posted June 22, 2012 I just fell from a bugged stair in a Deer Stand.Had a M4A3 CCO' date=' M9 SD, Coyote Backpack, all tools (Except NVG), lots of food, lots of ammo. In the end, after crawling for like 2 hours i just got killed by a few zeds. I had two shots of morphine. Used the first after a zed fight, the second after i fell a few stairs in a barn.[/quote']I had this as well, although I was lucky enough to get have the bug where you spawn in the forest way west. Dead bodies everywhere, found a guy with some morphine and a GPS (just need NVG). Feels a bit cheep but I had been crawling for more than four hours with 4000 blood for the last two days. If it's there I'll take it is the way I go at the moment.
pg00008 0 Posted June 22, 2012 me and my friend both had a broken leg in electro today and we couldn't find any morphine anywhere so finally we decided to go to the hospital. we didn't want to shoot the glass because that's just dumb, So we got some cans and broke in the hospital! in there we found 2 morphine (perfect) once we healed up we got out!point is that even with a broken leg we still managed to move around and heal up without being seen or aggro ed so Its either me and my mate is just REALLY good or you guys are bad.I personally thing the whole point of having a broken leg and getting to and finding a morphine in the hospital is a challenge which is why this game is so much fun.you should always have at least one with you at all times if that means that you have to raid a hospital at the start!and to those who keeps saying its too hard because people gets killed too easily in the cities then I suggest you find a friend who you can trust because it helps to have someone watch your back. Hze 3 Posted June 22, 2012 theres many medical camps with morphine in too, but there near military places, so its dangerous.
Rinner23 5 Posted June 22, 2012 If you break a leg you should have to find a wheel chair and go around in that. This magical morphine that fixes broken bones isnt realistic.I'm having images of wheelchair gunfights in Cherno...
seaweed 0 Posted June 22, 2012 It is quite hard right now:...Keep it like this! It creates an interesting dynamic. Normally I never go back south. But we have been out of medical supplies and my friend broke his leg. I had to go to one of the big cities' date=' very risky for a player with good gear. ...Tip: Stock up on medical supplies before you leave the coast.[/quote']Nonsense.Legs get broken by game glitches as often as by Zeds.Going south is not an interesting dynamic because the crazy noob-fest in the cities is certainly not what this game intended and has very little to do with survival. I will simply play another game if I want to fps people all day.Morphine is just a powerful pain-killer anyway not a magic cure. There is NO WAY in the world to instantly repair a real fracture in real life. So the REALISM of this aspect has been thrown out long time ago. What we need is either more morphine all over the map, or an ability to create a splint with wood and bandages (or whatever other method to fix broken bones).Best solution - remove bone fractures altogether. It's not really a necessary immersion component of the game, because any in-game solution to a broken bone is not a realistic one. It takes weeks to heal a bone in real life... It takes weeks to heal a bone in real life.I have to agree. Magical bone welding is very out of place in this game. At the same time, I do enjoy being forced to break some hospital windows and risk everything I've got for medical supplies. You can get by without blood packs by substituting it for cooked meat... you can't get by without morphine. I would never have a reason to visit the hospital. SilverWeed 0 Posted June 22, 2012 I get broken legs more often than critical wounds right now, but there are way more bandages in nearly every city versus the very rare morphine injectors. How does morphine fix bones again? Do you inject it directly into the bone?I crawled with a broken leg and ~100 blood for about 45 minutes last night to meet a friend who just started playing DayZ. We met up despite the amazing odds against us - he spawned in Cherno, I broke my leg in Gorka. I passed out a dozen times on the way. He didn't have morphine so took my Lee into nearby Ctapoe to scavenge in hopes another player might be around carrying, worst case I would just give him my loot and respawn. But all he got was a broken leg from random aggro in the town. We both died to infected. So it goes...

Gibbonici 9 Posted June 22, 2012 As others have said' date=' I hate how often zombies cause these rediculous injuries. I mean, do they constantly manage to slit my wrists / throat?[/quote']I could recommend a few classic zombie movies that would answer this question for you ;)Zombies (or infected as they seem to be called) are horrible, vicious, bitey, scratchy, rippy bastards in the movies, and they are harder, stronger and more dangerous than humans are. Hell, count your blessings that they can't infect us ;)http://chestofbooks.com/health/body/massage/Margaret-D-Palmer/Lessons-on-Massage/images/fig-117-Fractured-Leg-Bandaged-to-Back-Splint.png2x Bandage + wood/boards = slower movement speed for x amount of time. That would be a cool addition. In fact I'd vote for it as a replacement for morphine as it is.Maybe morphine could then be a strong painkiller and a way of relieving a possible trauma/stress mechanic in the future. At the risk of addiction of course ;)

Not super realistic (crouching is harder than walking IRL of course), but at least you wouldn't be running with a broken leg...Maybe morphine could then be used to enable running again? FunkyHermitCrab (DayZ) 95 Posted June 22, 2012 2 Bandage + Firewood = Splint.Splint slows your move speed for 1 day ( or however long ), then your bone is healed.Morphine/Adrenaline removes splint slow.EDIT: Herp, just read post above me, and I was feeling all creative :(
iomegadrive1 9 Posted June 22, 2012 Yea because with the lack of a side chat and the ability to get in a Hospital without 12 bandits firing at you, you can definitely get morphine no problem now...
Rabbican 1 Posted June 22, 2012 Military loot spawns can drop morphine, got some from Balota Control tower, and I've even gotten blood packs from deer stands... its out there just harder to find.
Bungles 1 Posted June 22, 2012 If i didn't break my leg by using a well, or entering the control tower at the airfield, or stepping over a pile of rubble ect ect so on and so forth I'd be on board with what u say. The terrain is easily as dangerous as zombies when it comes to getting your leg broken tho.
