"Hardcore" mode - NO 3DP :) :) ;)

Recommended Posts

"We want to encourage a "hardcore" mode that will operate on a separate database, featuring things like first person only, no hide body, etc..." - Dean "Rocket" Hall.

HELL YEAH - NO 3DP - CAN'T WAIT!!!1111!!!11!!

Who's with me? Was this because I whinged so hard? or because Dean figures it just makes sense? my guess - the latter. Hardcore mode FTW!

Your thoughts?

DayZ should have always been hardcore mode, period. Although I like watching streams, it irks me when they are standing behind a wall watching where other players are going over the top of it, but I can also see how that provides more info on a given situation for the viewer. If I had the hardware to stream, I'd stream in 1st person in a no 3rd person server (obviously they don't exist yet in standalone but I hope they will).

Oh and it's nearly xmas, so if someone wants to provide that hardware, I'll dedicate my first stream to you.

BTW, where did you quote that from, I want to read, linky plz.

Yeah I'm all for the hardcore mode adding another level of realism to the game.

This will prevent 3rd person mode camera pivoting to look around corners and over objects.

But i don't mind the 3rd person mode either.

The first person mode only could allow some exclusive features that dont make sense in third person mode, like blindfire. So i think it sounds promising.

i dont think first person only will be a fun experience, due to the fact that it is too hard to navigate in close quarters in the darkness, even with a flashlight equipped. try looting apartments at night in first person mode. you wont know what the fck is going on.

Nah, it will be easier to navigate indoors in the dark when they add the chemical lights. (or when they polish a bit the flashlight holding animation)

I think hes just talking about the general clunkiness of the game when walking inside houses xD tho thats expected to be changed in the long run.
