hrdrok 183 Posted December 21, 2013 Hello all! I have a quick recap of my experiences thus far in the new SA of DayZ. First off I have been playing DayZ for quite some time. I have followed/played the mod for a while now and have really enjoyed the game. I am a veteran player, but have never been very "good" at this game. I don't PvP, at all. I like to attempt to make allies in the game and it usually ends with me getting killed, and losing all the lame gear I unfortunately worked very hard to get >.< Now for the less depressing part of this post... Now that I am about 2 hours into my current life in the SA I have come to a few conclusions about this iteration of DayZ. - Firstly, performance is noticeably better. I have a solid 30 fps or higher anywhere but cherno/electro. - Secondly, being able to enter a large amount of buildings has done so many wonderful things for this game. Exploration seems much more rewarding (personally, not gear wise). - Thirdly, I am becoming much more concerned about my appearance of my character. I really have enjoyed changing the outfits to fit what I would chose to look like. Odd that I care about how I look, but I got a lot of enjoyment when I found my shades and looked ruggedly cool. With zombies barely around (yes I have read the post and know this will change) I have really gotten a good chance to cover some ground and check things out. I am excited to see were things go from here and am genuinely look forward to the rest of it's development. Oh and I hate to add this next part, but its a story I must share... -----Disclamer: This story is true, I don't know why I even tell it, as you won't believe it...----- Alright, so one of my first finds was a map of Southern Chernarus. Very helpful as even the most seasoned of us can get turned around from time to time. Hitting a few towns as I head north I realized I was dangerously close to Green Mountain. Being a huge fan of the foke lore associated with Green Mountain I decided to go do a little sight seeing. Now as I could see it in the distance, a quick chill ran down my spine. I had no intention of exploring the mountain as it never provided much gear for me in the past. "Ok it scares the shite out of me :(" So I gingerly tip-toe around it on the west side of the mountain, and continue north. Plan was to head to NWAF... After much travel and a quick swig out of my canteen, and looked up... How is this possible!? I traveled for a good fifteen minutes! As I have stated, I can get turned around sometimes...it happens. At this point I feel obligated to search the mountain...So as I make my way to the spire I have that funny feeling that I'm being watched. Not really a new feeling in these post-apocalyptic days, but none-the-less I feel a bit uneasy. After a short jog I come to the base of the spire, and I must say it is an outstanding achievement of engineering. Towers above all in Chernarus. I search the newly unlocked building nearby, and that's when something odd happens. In the upstairs I find a new backpack that can hold much more goodies than my current one. So I immediately drop my pack, and almost instantly it dissappears! And not only does it dissappear, but so does the new pack! All my gear gone! I will die on this mountain! I frantically run down the steps and head for the exit, and on the ground is both packs...How was this posssible!? No time to think as I quickly gather my stuff and decide I have spent to much time on the mountain. A quickly race out the door. As I cross the gate I hear a noise. It resembles that of a zombie, but more of a sigh than a scream. I turn an look up in the direction I heard it, axe raised! And that is the last thing I remember seeing. Unconscious for what seemed to be hours... When I finally came too, I awake to blood along the ground and my axe covered in flesh. I felt exhausted and beaten. The mountain must have over came me, and used me for it's will. I don't know the deeds I did that day, and I dare not to ask... Thus a new legend may have been born that day, woes to the Axe Hunter of Green Mountain...
hogscraper 328 Posted December 21, 2013 Backpacks will be teleported outside if you try to lay them down inside any higher than the first floor of a building. At least that happened to me the two times I needed to set it down. Also, The Axe Hunter of Green Mountain probably couldn't find any roofies so he used his axe to incapacitate you. You should probably get tested just in case.
