20 hours of play, never met another player

It's getting abit frustrating, i have never played the mod so maybe this is normal, but i have ran north and came back to spawn, i am almost full geared and i am just running around now, trying to find some1, trying to do something.. always playing on 40/40 servers, i keep feeling like i am bugged because also my servers are always 24/7 daylight, never seen the night lol, yet when i click "p" i see other players on the list ... maybe my character got bugged somehow, but i got so much stuff :(

Same thing happens to me which makes me not have to worry so much and get to know the new areas better :) The only places I can find other people is in the southern coastal areas.

Sadly, it seems to be the way it's going.... banditry is apparently the norm, those of us who refuse to PK (unless they start it) are in the extreme minority.

i am always looking with zoom around everywhere, really paranoid, but after 20 hours i really just wan't to see another player lool, big citys on coast, ive ran everywhere around them, always empty

Try joining a 40/40 server? I found 10+ people in the first 10 minutes I played. Ever try Cherno or Electro?

If you aren't being watchful you can often run right past people.

They're most common on the coast, but don't go there with the intention to shoot people because that's just really douchebaggy.

You may really help people by handing out food or a can opener.

If you can, put your gun on your back, It's a bit less obvious and you look less like you're ready to shoot somebody.

Anybody without a gun will be steering clear of you though, not often you see a fully geared guy roaming the coast trying to help the newspawns.

That's what I'm trying to do at the moment though xD

You bump into people all the time on the coast. Once you get up north you won't see people often outside of the hotspots or bigger towns.

 

If you aren't watchful, it can be easy to miss people if they haven't seen you either though, and some people may hide from you as you have a weapon and they do not.

This isn't the "way it's going" or "the norm."  

 

Random encounters in-game quite often result in someone dying.  No different from the DayZ mod.  There are many "clans" that group up and organize over teamspeak and generally play together if that's what you're interested in.

thats whats really weird, my past hour i am been running around the coast on a 40/40 server, and still nothing, maybe just unlucky... i am on elektro right now, its empty... going to move to bolota now, i heard that kinda an hot spot

User experience may differ... But I've not 'met' anyone nice yet, but have been murdered for my gear four times.

 

(at least, that's four attempts, one of which I managed to win)

I try to stay away from people in SA because of too many KoS I've seen and done to me by other players. Also the DayZ community is utter crap, most people will KoS even if you don't posses as a threat still you will die. My only survival is stay away or track down players and hopefully fin their stash of goodies or kill them if I have to.

I'm not sure that would be possible, and if it is that's a very strange bug.

Got to bolota, 0 players, found another m4 i don't need, ive ignored like 3 so far... i really think i am bugged, its like the world is only for me, thats why i have such an easy time finding loot

Just stay at Balota if nobody comes by within an hour, you likely have the troubles.

You might. Be playing on a +6hr server and just always missing the night.

Ok so i tried out another server for the first time, i always played on Dayz GB servers , i heard changing servers could delete your character.... logged on DayzUK and past 5 minutes i found some1 who killed me LOL, so i ye i kinda got what i wished for :(  what does GB stand for?

I think 40 people per server isn't enough, even in the mod I thought people were scarce even though in the mod people were funnelled into Elektro/Baloto/Cherno/Zeleno/Starry/NWAF/NEAF/Berezino as apposed to standalone where every single town on the map had pretty much as much gear as any town in the mod, so people are spread all over the map.

 

I just took a quick count of towns in Chernarus, and counted about 50. In the mod people pretty much went to the 8 towns I listed above, some of the towns in between might of had 1 house or 2 if you're lucky but were pretty much in the way of the big towns. So if we assume with the mod 50% of players are in towns and 50% of players are currently walking between towns and servers have 40 players, you can expect 2.5 players per town (20 people in towns divide 8 towns). As apposed to the standalone if we assume 50% of players are in towns and 50% running between then you get the same amount of players except an absolute tonne more viable lootable towns. Assuming there is 50 towns in standalone and 50% are in them and 50% running between, you will end up with something like 0.4 players per town (20 divide 50).

 

This is of course inaccurate as it is mainly assumption and is all just averages per town, obviously cherno/baloto/elektro are still going to have a lot more players, but the reason is obvious why. but it is an decent educated guess on comparisons in player dispersion between the mod and standalone.

 

My point being, 40 players worked in the mod, but sure as hell doesn't work in standalone, for instance me and I buddies walk around for hours and barely see anyone, hear no gunshots and see no players and we make sure to be on full servers. we eventually gave up and now we hang around balota looking for armed players as we simply can't find players elsewhere.

 

I understand why they can't raise the cap currently, but dear god they had better in the future.

ye i trough so.. i def had some sort of bug, when i changed to UK server it was the first time it wasnt full day, was darker... and after 5 minutes i found some1... oh well, starting all over again xD lost 2 medicine kits, m4, pistol, bullets, antibiotics, painkillers, 35 bag, blood packs, lots of food , 3 water bottles... so ye, my first player encounter on dayz wasn't a good story LOL

To be honest, even with all that gear you'd have got bored if you couldn't find anyone.

 

We've met about 20 people so far and only 3 have been hostile. We've been avoiding people if we see that we have guns though, so that might have swayed things, but better luck next time. xD

I really wish people would not cry about KOS. People kill each other over tickle me Elmo dolls on black Friday! What makes you think that in an end of the world situation people would not KOS. Its not that the Dayz community that is bad, its that people are trying to survive, and yes that also means killing an unarmed player. Chances are if that unarmed player gets a melee weapon he will prolly come back and bash your skull in with it.
