Resident evil vs dayz and ammunition abundance + value of life vs value of ammunition

RE4 had little ammo scattered around. this made it hard. it also made it hard to keep a surplus of ammo. the difference between RE and DZ is that DZ is unscripted, so it's all based on a % chance to spawn, rather than just a spawn. 

 

SO; you reduce the 5.56, 7.62, .45acp spawns to ABSOLUTELY fuck all. i want people walking around with 3 bullets

 

this means people will be less eager to use one of their three bullets on your skinny ass. 

 

as well as doing this, there should be a variety of Non-lethal weapons.

 

 

Tranquilisers 

Gas powered pellet rifles

paintball guns

BBguns

a taser

this "system" has the advantage of:

 

not imposing any actual restrictions on banditry, FKA mental health bullshit

 

increasing realism: i dont find 5.56 mags full of ammo lying about all over the place IRL

 

non-lethals give a neutral player the chance to sneak up on somebody who isn't necessarily friendly and disable them without risking death.

Important bugs and issues

 

Loot Distribution

* Loot not well balanced

Balancing the whole world is very difficult. We also plan to centralize distribution of key items so there will be a global economy. For now, you have the basics and while this is not ideal it is enough for testing. We look forward to our exciting features with this!

 

I agree with you, but what you see right now is not even close to how it will be later. Give it time, Rocket stated he wants people to have to look around for items.

Aye, I'm walking around with 45 Mosin rounds now, ammo really needs to be made scarce, especially for high-powered weaponry. This is a Survival game, not Battlefield!

I'm sure most of the guns that you just mentioned are gonna make it into the game. I'm pretty sure rocket has mentioned .22 caliber rifles before, and tranquilizers just make sense seeing the new crafting system we have. Tasers are very realistic if they ever add a police modeled zombie or a police station. Pellet rifles are very similar to BB guns, and I'm not too sure about Paintball guns. They wouldn't really have any use unless you wanted to use them to mark trees or houses.

i'm aware of that.

 

if i state my ideas there's a chance they get noticed, so i thought i would. this is by no means a complaint thread.

 

dayzSA runs 500x better than arma2 did for me already. for an alpha that's fucking phenominal if you think about it. (BF4 alpha was the lag)

 

if in future it's a real scavenger hunt for useable ammo i'd be happy.

 

i want my gun to blow up occasionally because im using a badly damaged bullet.

 

i want to have to search for a weapon and find nothing but a small motor, a pipe and a rock, and i want to be able to make a Rock it launcher from them.

 

non-lethal weapons should be a big part of dayz for the sake of players who want to be neutral.

 

i'd also like to be able to carry a secondary rifle rather than spade/axe

Oh, and as an enormous Resident Evil fan. Please don't ever..... EVER compare RE and DayZ....

nope, but i'm using the scarcity of ammunition as a reference.

 

my guy is currently carrying:

 

2x40 round 5.56

3x60 round 5.56

4x30 round 5.56 bullets emptied from 10/20mag

 

40x2 round .45acp bullets 

1x15 round FMXmag

 

that's more ammo than you spawn with on BF3/4

I almost forgot. Dean has stated he definitely wants to add tasers and possibly other non-lethal weapons, just not until more core systems are in place.

god, i have a thousand rounds of 7.62x39 for my sks on hand at any given time, everyone owns an sks in canada for some reason lol.

 

do you have any idea how much 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 ammo is in europe??

 

now finding ar mags and such should be very rare, like true military stuff, but hunting rifles and hunting ammo (also milsurp) is very common to find in peoples homes. People use sks's here for cheap effective deer guns/bush guns. Same with .308 or 7.62x51.

 

so no dont make ammo scarce, make shit that civilians cant get scarce and only found on military sites.

i'd be perfectly happy with 7.62 being in abundance, because it makes sense, but .45acp and 5.56? in rus? naaaah.

magpul shit needs to be very rare

 

A) magpul is US company

B) magpul is not too cheap

C) magpul is not issued

 

 

actually i prefer the idea of mags being scarce rather than ammo. 

 

you should be forced to chamber a single round until you find a 30/40/60 magazine which should take you a full trip around balota, nwaf, neaf to find.

same with anything AR...the ar platform is very rare and very restricted in many countries...even russia.

its just not a good platform to have an abundance of...

so we're agreed that 7.62 should be all over the place even in civ spawns

.45acp should be military only (common-uncommon)

5.56 should be military only (med-rare)

magazines for anything should be military only and rare.

magpul should be rarer

M4 should be rarer than it is. it's listed as rare already, but we gotta remember that the m4 is basicly a placeholder for "any gun" right now.

ak-47 should be common, all over the place, but most of them should be in terrible condition.

 

 

this also adds a benefit to using the mosin nagant, in that you won't need to look for a magazine.
