Will shovel kill zombies?

Just curious..

I was able to knock down a zombie using a shovel ( only weapon i had at the time ) - but was not able to kill it, I hit it at least 10 times or so before i was knocked out.  Can a zombie be killed with a shovel currently? or is just for knocking them down?

They can but it is brutally difficult unless your in first person and getting lost in a fit of rage.

Except the fire axe, which 1 hit kill a zombie, all melee weapons (including hatchet) suck ass. You'll die before you kill the zombie.

The shovel is really weak, takes a lot of headshots but it can kill a zed,

You can, it just takes about as many hits as a MMA fighter on bathsalts.

I was counting my baseball bat hits once. The zombie took 6 hits until knock down and 2 more until he died.

Hatchet is pretty easy, you just need two hits in chest to kill a Z (or only one if headshoot).

The trick is to turn around the Z to avoid beeing hit.

 

Shovel needs something like a least 15 hits to kill, but it's possible to kill with hit.

Didn't try other melee weapons yet (dreaming of a chainsaw B) )
