What am I doing wrong? Performance / FPS

Recommended Posts

Okay, so why is this game not using all my PC's resources and what can I do about it?

Specs:

Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.40 GHz

6GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M 2GB @ 950MHz
Yes it's a laptop. Yes it can run games such as Skyrim / Farcry 3 / at ultra with 50-60FPS  using 100% of GPU. But why Arma 2 why?

The game is not optimized completely yet. Performance issues will continue until they start fixing it. Give it time

Nothing? Unless in task manager you have you game assigned to a few cores.

The game is designed to run off only a few cores, and limited RAM. It's just like ArmA that way.

Your issue is you're playing a game that uses the Arma engine which is known for being terrible. I watched Arma 3 go from alpha to release with no performance fixes despite the complaints, don't be surprised if your fps now is final.

But maybe the money coming in from DayZ will be able to fund rewrites where they're needed

Turn away from the town and look towards an unpopulated area, your fps will improve.

30 fps is not the end of the world.

Client side optimisation is planned.

I am sitting here looking at your specs and I am damn sure you can't run Far Cry 3 or Skyrim on Ultra with 50-60 FPS. Sounds like a lot of shenanigans.
