Its more than just an Alpha....

Recommended Posts

 It's an evolution.

What you play now, the expirence you are getting right now  Will be gone by tomorrow. New mechanics will be added that will dynamically change the game-play, and as you get used to it, others will as well.

You will remember these days of early alpha and tell it to your game childs. "Back in the day, if you went unconscious, you were screwed" and "There were tons of phsyco killers running around, since that's all they could do.. there were no vehicles!"

Obviously a bunch of other things as well. In my opinion with computer games, the fully released, polished games, last me a good 4-5 months until i put them down for good, with a slight chance i may temporarily return for a "fix". However, this alpha is a rare, special case. Thanks to its sandbox nature which is  "Rare as hell in MMO's". Replay-ability, and a skillful learning curves, this alpha is argued by some to play as if its a fully released game. If it were an EA game, this would be the complete package.

Over the course of the next 2 years, things are going to change, we will get thousands of new things to tinker with with, including new mechanics. For now however, let us bask in this prehistoric land of DAYZ. We are making history.

Game of the decade?

Basically how most MMOs are throughout their development stages which is things to be taken for granted than appreciated. DayZ has quite a lot of potential that I can see right now and in my opinion is a great investment towards a game. What I really like most and this is something I never seen before is a very strong community that's willing to help it's course of advancing development such as having your own radio station in-game.

Think about it, the mod's a concept or the predecessor of what the Standalone is and this is what grew and learned upon it. The mod is even great enough for me to continue playing and supporting it even after it's release. :)

Back in the day hatchets dropped ammo, rocks attacked you brutally and broke every bone in your body, atvs launched you to space if you crossed the bridge with them, and changing clothes made you go for a swim in the largest ocean known to man.

oh boy :)
