"Endgame" concept ideas

Recommended Posts

I know a lot of people have raised the point that Dayz lacks an "endgame", something to keep you busy once you're fully gearead and loaded with supplies. Which when people get, they generally turn sniping and general banditry. I think a cool idea for at least giving players another option would be crafting/repairing machines/vehicles that would require a large time input, extreme scavenging and a communal effort.

I know this is likely kinda of tough considering i'm sure the standalone wants to be moving further away from the military vibe of Arma. But I think some sort of APC that would take a massive time investment to get repaired would be great, maybe a mounted .50 cal turret on it. Something that looks welded together and stitched from parts of other vehicles.

I know a lot of people will hate this sort of idea, but my main point is that their should be other options from groups after gearing up, other then murdering and sniping. It would make the game more enjoyable for vets and might save the skin of a few bambi's if less bandits are sniping the coast and hiding in barracks. :p

I really like this idea. I have only played DayZ for 2 days now(didn't play mod) and i have already geared up completely and i just started camping and killing players/hostage looting. I feel like there should be things to do past gearing. Creating vehicles or repairing a town to post up in with friends. Towns could battle each other for supplies and other players would gear up and want to build their own stuff too.

Where does it all stop ? adding new stuff to extend the "endgame" then when you have done that stuff you need more stuff to extend the "endgame" even more.

Forget that crap ...."endgame" is ...exactly that "END of GAME"

When you reach this "endgame" all your suppose to do is repeat the previous stuff...go help a new spawn get geared up or something or kill some people ....and if you die then you have something to do again don't you :)

Gold, gems and jewels would cease to have value once the world starts ending. Unless you find a way to eat them or turn them into bullets.

bullshit.

currency loses it's value, rare metals are still rare.

jewellery is still jewellery.

Noooo >.< it just won't work, and after that's repaired, then what? More banditry...

They need to add a building system (boarding up windows, crates for storage, etc) and random houses in the wilderness.

I also don't think this game should have an "endgame." It would be fantastic if you always needed something. There would be no endgame in a realistic situation of the sort.

by endgame, we're talking about the time after you've got your gear (+camp+vehicle after they're added back in)

aside from piles and piles of gold, i'd also like to see a wide variety of more realistic looking animals.

endgame is finding and skinning the one albino bear

No, sorry bud. Rare metals and jewels are valuable only because they can be exchanged for other valuable things. When the world is ending nobody is going to give a flying fuck how pretty your diamonds are. The only valuable things are going to be:

1) Humans, especially ones with expert knowledge (like doctors)

2) Food

3) Weapons

The same idiotic logic is behind the whole "Buy gold because the economy is going to crash!" nut jobs. If the economy really does collapse, gold is going to be as worthless as anything else. Wheat? Rice? Fresh water? Those will be the new diamonds.

you say that now, but when society returns you're going to look pretty stupid for obsessing over consumables. the river runs thick, the forests are full of animals (or they will be), and there's enough 5.56 about to sink a ship

People like gold and jewels because they make you look stylish, show wealth, and shine.

In a situation of this caliber, currencies would be resources people can use. No one is going to give a rats ass if you got 25 carrat studs if you got a can of beans in your hand.

No I'm not.

That would have no use in a post apocalyptic situation.

gold and jewels won't keep you alive.

i didn't say they did. i'd still like to fill a cave with gold and sit in it though.

that'd be MY endgame.

yours is apparently doing the same thing, but with beans

It's the apocalypse, son. If society does return, it's not going to be for another 2,500 years or so. If you can hang on to your rubies until then, more power to you.

You're a also forgetting that the world is overrun by bandits, diseases and the infected. 50% or more of your consumables are either rotting, expired or disease-ridden. Only 5% of humanity is alive and less than that are even healthy 95% are their predators. Not to mention they are constantly trying to kill each other and the environment is constantly trying to kill them.  Only a mentally-challenged child will think of being a king of a basically dead world by the use of jewelries.

End game is dying of dehydration ina bombed out husk of a building having your free remaining goods looted from your steaming corpse.

I think so called "endgame" should be a development of some sort of large groups (clans?) of people to dominate the game world. This process includes building bases (if not building a proper houses, at least fortifying existing ones), repairing cars, collecting and storing gas, weapons and ammunition. If there are more than two of those groups this would be a war for survival if those groups wouldn't decide to cooperate or at least have traiding relationship. A group would be able to make their own attributes such as clothing colors, tattoos and symbols. For instance If you arrive at Vybor and see a symbol of a group on the walls of the buildings you know on whose territory you're on. Just imagine: traiding between groups, hostage exchanges, arms dealings. The game economics should stay the same way it is now - based on barter. Any currency if being added to the game could ruin post appocalyptic atmosphere. Helicopters IMO should be the most difficult thing to achieve and maintain in the game. Because this would make the game Arma again, and we already have Arma.

What do you think, guys?
