Switching servers kills you?

I switched to my buddies server and everyone who switched with me ended up on the coast with no gear.

 

Is this something to stop people from loot farming or is it a glitch?

have you played since the character wipe. that is most likely what killed you

Yes, I have played since the wipe. It was not the wipe.

Every single time we switch servers we have to restart.

This could be a glitch from the last patch, It could be reading you as an old character pre-wipe and wiping you. Better add it to the bug list.

Same thing happened to me.  I started over after the wipe last night and ended the night with a decent character above Balota.  Logged in today and all was well.  Changed servers and was a new spawn.
