do people actually want a complicated medical system?

well some of the ideas are puzzling me at moment especially on medical side of it and after seeing rockets latest twitter saying he wants it even more complicated it does make me wonder is he complicating things too much for the sake of no end game?

 

see its like you doing extra work for the sake of it in game . it doesnt want making so its that much of a chore that you cant be bothered to even survive because of how medical system is set up.

 

if im honest i prefer straight forward simple ideas that are, fast ,smooth in transition and dont cause stress to the player or annoy. the previous blood bag system worked quite well. it wasnt too time consuming and it wasnt trying to be too fancy for the sake of the problem.

 

sometimes what seems like a great idea on paper doesnt translate to great ingame or great gameplay.

 

while it does mean more work for the invidual and give more things for that person to do and acheive, it just seems like a step too far. a more simplier idea of similar to how it was .

 

what are you thoughts honestly? do you think we need to be qualified doctors or spend as much time knowing and searching for blood ?

 

would you rather just get on with playing and have a simplier system?

 

do you think it adds to the game?

 

what im getting at and this may apply to other areas is with the lack of end game. which is dayz weakest point. is complicating routine tasks like eating and medical and other tasks just a way of trying to mask over the low end game play? do we need to make everything 5 or 6 things combined operations to mask over simple working ideas that can be done in one ?

 

 

 

any thoughts on this matter? is dayz trying to go one step to far on over complicating simple objectives.

Yes.

 

Why are people so obsessed with what is 'annoying' or 'boring'.

Is eating a banana 'fun'? No but it adds more depth than just beans.

 

If you want to bag spam play the mod.

If you want to throw a medkit down play BF.

Yes. The mod was boring and the overly simplistic medical system was a factor in why. If you ever played arma 2 with the ACE mod, the medical system was quite complex and it added a lot to the gameplay.

I'd love to see it even more complicated. Simply finding one kind of antibiotics to cure every kind of sickness would be way too easy mode. Moar moar moar.

Personally I'd like it as complicated as possible. There will be medic clans (like tmw) that could work as healers! More specialisations! You'll have to choose wether you wan't to be a medic or a sniper :) That's a good thing I think

I don't think there should be an end game.

 

There is no end game in a zombie apocalypse. You're always fighting to live, you don't "win".

I don't mind it as long as it spawns the proper loot so you can treat yourself.

Or at least let us craft antibiotics and stuff from natural ingredients.

If you don't want a complicated medical system play the mod or BF4, if you want to play DayZ, play DayZ.

 

The medical system is not hard to understand, It is easily mastered, I have never died due to illness, its way to easy to keep your survivor alive if you use common sense.

I love it. It makes tense moments, and it makes you have to actually LOOK for stuff, giving you stuff to do instead of making one run to a hospital, getting 10 blood bags, and then PvPing.

 

This medical system gives us MISSIONS! I need to know my blood type, I need to get some sterile bandages, my buddy needs blood etc.

I'd love to see everything complicated...Not just the medical system..

I'd love to see gun getting jammed that you actually have to dismantle it a clean it up.

 

I mean everything HAS to be complicated...

This game needs to be LONG RUN, so players actually take care of theirselves and dont just simply run into cherno for hunting...

It needs to take you time to get proper gun and gear.

I'd just love to see people actually trading for stuff just because they're missing something..

 

 

I'd love to see bandits playing clever (would be cool adding gas nades), handcuff people..Capture them, rob them. Not shoot on sight and destroy all the stuff..

I dont know how i feel about it.

The SA was possible because people asked for a SA with better graphics and simple game mechanics. (like instal, update, animations etc.). Just all the stuff that wasnt possible without an own engine. And now they start their game with things like this complicated medical system thats so far away from the mod. Why? Stick to the mod and improve the game with those things that you couldnt do with the arma engine.

Remember, the mod made you popular, not the SA. So you can never be wrong with implementing mod content in the SA.

 

Again the med system. Not good, not bad. I wouldnt be dissapointed if i had found old mod blood packs.

That was very constructive ...now ill be just as constructive and tell you that your a moron and that kind of comment is just plain stupid. Hes not asking for spammable blood bags  or throw down med kits so stop talking complete garbage. What he is asking is that the medical system isn't made stupidly complicated,complex or boring to the extent that  you need to run all around the map trying to find 10 different items just to give yourself a successful blood bag that doesn't end up killing you.

 

To be totally honest i don't see why Dean intends to add all this crap into a zombie apocalypse game ...he may aswell just make a fucking actual survival game without the zombies as he seems to be putting way too much time into stuff that isn't actually needed. This is a quote from Dean "I consider medical about 10% complete. Challenge is to make it more complex without more overbearing and confusing. V. hard".....10 percent? really? it seems pretty much good enough as it is and will be even better once he puts use to some of the medical loot currently in the game that isn't of much use atm ....but to actually go and waste time adding another 90 percent to a system that just doesnt need much more work done is just a waste of time and effort ...id rather they put that time into something else like new zombie model's (fat, extremely fat, skinny, missing limbs) and building a system that affects the speed these zombies move and navigate. Extremely fat zombie that cant get through a small gaps and are mabie really slow but silent ? I dunno theres a 1000 differernt things that the time and effort could be spent on.

Who are you to say what Dean is wasting his time on?

 

Someone that cares about the games development and hopes dean doesn't stray to far from what actually made DayZ popular, someone that contributed my money and time to the game,mod and forums.

What i have understand Dean said was to give away simpel knowledge like cook ur water before u drink it, cook ur beef before u eat it, If u dont have warm cloth on u will freeze and u will get sick, If u get biten by a zombie u might get a infection, Bullet wounds wont heal it self if u not taking care of it.

If someone is sick they can infect u by air. all this kind of common knowledge.

I don't think people are actually understanding what is involved. Here's an example. We had all the items needed to make a blood kit. My friend filled up his blood and he then used the kit on me. I went unconscious. Later, I found a blood test kit which told me my blood type, so I can only asse I went unconsious because he had the wrong blood type so I had to restart from scratch. Later on I found another blood test kit and to my surprise my blood type changed. So now on top of all the items you need to setup a blood bag you need multiple blood test kits and available donators to actually do it. It is rediculous.

I love that too and its a good addition to the game but those are just descriptions and mabie about 10 percent overall of the 100 percent medical system he has in mind.

i like how Dean think and it is nice couse the people have to think of there consequent's of what they are doing.

to be honest i think a bit of a endgame would be nice. I liked it in DayZ Origins like to have a kind of a base (Housing) and a difficult farm lokation with rar loot like Sector B ( Salvation City)
