Verex11 95 Posted December 19, 2013 I know someone who plays it on a pretty terrible laptop on low, and the game still looks amazing. Should be fine !
Dilly0509 0 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the help Guys! Ill def go with windows 7 then. I sure hope it works, it looks like an excellent game. Ive been catching the dayz streams on twitch and I've been drooling over it. Im just terrified I'm going to purchase windows along with the game and it won't be playable. Oh yeah should i get the 64 bit edition of windows 7? Thanks again! Edited December 20, 2013 by Dilly0509
Luthor Chickenfeet 29 Posted December 20, 2013 There's a whole shebang in this thread about that stuff. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154395-can-i-run-dayz-retail-post-here/
Dilly0509 0 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks but I've read all the posts in that thread. Only one guy had posted about a macbook with specs different/worse than mine. Thank you though.
kiloswiss 4 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) @Dilly0509The Intel HD 3000 should be able to handle the game on low settings and of course not on a high resolution. The CPU is the bottleneck and since you run Windows in Bootcamp, this setup would not provide you, what I call, a playable framerate in DayZ, especially when entering towns, it will most probably end up in a Diashow for you. And PLEASE get Windows 7.Would you kindly explain to all of us, why he should prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8? You've got a word processor right there. That Intel onboard graphics is garbage. And trying to run Windows through that and play DayZ? All I can say is good luck. Your framerate is gonna be terribad. kiloswiss 4 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) You're joking right? This does not answer my question. Thanks for the help Guys! Ill def go with windows 7 then. Im just terrified I'm going to purchase windows along with the game and it won't be playable. Oh yeah should i get the 64 bit edition of windows 7? Thanks again!I recommend to go with Windows 8. It is superior to Windows 7 in any way (support, performance, security, backup function, etc.) and you don't have to use the "Metro" GUI if you don't like it! You will have better performance/ressource management in Windows 8, compared to Windows 7, resulting in better gaming performance, especially in multithreading optimized games/game engines. Also every programm or driver runs flawless on Windows 8 nowadays. Very important: Buy the x64 version of Windows 8, since the x32 versions only support up to ~4GB of System RAM! Dilly0509 0 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks for the honesty guys! I think ill go ahead and wait until i build me a new desktop. Thanks everyone!
klesh 2423 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks for the honesty guys! I think ill go ahead and wait until i build me a new desktop. Thanks everyone! Consider buying it now to save yourself $30 (the finished game will be more expensive) and don't bother playing it until you get a new rig. You could also try playing to see what you get, but I agree it will be a terrible experience.

weparo 613 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks but I've read all the posts in that thread. Only one guy had posted about a macbook with specs different/worse than mine. Thank you though. You're not supposed to read it, you're supposed to post there instead of making a new uneccesairy thread! That said, I'd recommend building a desktop, laptops suck, and with integrated graphics... You won't see shit but a pixel war. Ofc you can still buy the game now before it gets expensive Weparo
Dilly0509 0 Posted December 26, 2013 Ok guys i just found out that apparently the macbook also has an AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1 GB VRAM. It switches between the integrated (when unplugged) and the AMD (when plugged in). Now if i boot camp windows do you guys think ill have a problem running it?! Thanks for everything guys! Merry Christmas!
Dilly0509 0 Posted December 26, 2013 I also can only use windows 7 64 bit version. Apparently to load windows 8 you need boot camp version 5 and my macbook can only update to version 4.
