A strange senario I do not know how to report...

Recommended Posts

..So I'm just going to post what has happened here.

Yesterday when I was roaming in Kamorovo(don't mind the spelling) while waiting for a friend, I went into a house and somehow noticed that I couldn't switch to my fireaxe or even flashlight. I thought it must be a connection issue so I logged out. When I logged back in soon after, my character went straight into unconsciousness. After a coulple of minutes, I woke up bleeding, so I bandaged myself quickly. Then I realized that my fireaxe was gone... and more strangely, my fireaxe was replaced by a wrench... Every thing else was still on me: food, drink, screwdriver... Could it be that the fireaxe somehow glitched and turned into a wrench and made me bleed and unconscious? Or, could it be someone who played a mean trick on me? But I was sure there were no one around the area where I logged out.

Spooky.

Sounds like someone knocked you out and stole your axe, could of been worse.

The thing is that logging into a server only takes me about a couple of seconds, and knocking out a player with a wrench is not that easly. (A guy asked my to kill him yesterday because he needed to respawn. It took me quite a few swings to hit him with an axe, and 2 sure hits to kill him)

Besides it still can't explain why I couldn't swap to my weapons before I logged out. I didn't get a connection warning or anything.

Knocking out players just takes a few hits to the head even with fists.

Still would take longer than the time from I click connect and I start seeing the environment. I logged in and went straight into unconsciousness, unless he predicted where EXACTLY I will appear and made full preperation for that.

It doesn't take everyone a couple swings to hit a person and a wrench tot he head will knock you out the first time if you are not wearing some protective gear. You might have desynced before you logged out, he was there and hit your desynced avatar so you never saw him. It was easy to hit because it was just standing there. He took your axe and then your avatar vanished. Taking the axe would swap with his current weapon.

Are you saying my melee skill is horrible? My scores in Mount&Blade, War of the Rose, Chivalry, War of the Vikings would proove you wrong. It was just bad hit detection and bad netcode preventing me getting the hit.

The desynced-before-logging-off theory is more convincing though. I have had this problem without seeing the red broken chain.

Yes, I am. Your skill with this game that doesn't function like those other games is probably bad, maybe worse than someone who has never played a more melee based game because you have habits that probably work for them and don't here. I one shot zombies in this game with melee. I knock them to the ground with head shots. You could be more skilled and getting defensive about it and assuming it is the game's fault isn't going to let you learn how this game handles melee.

I can one shot zombies with melee too depends on the weapon used. Getting a headshot is no problem either. All I know is that if my weapon pass through someone's head, and there are smokes coming out of the head, and it doesn't count as a hit, it is definitely a network issue or hitbox issue. We all know DayZ SA's melee system is new and far from perfection, so stop kidding yourself.

Yes, there are issues. One noted one is that when melee weapons connect they don't stop, the animation continues. So it hit somewhere else but the animation continues the swing through the head. This misleads people into going, "I hit the head but it didn't register a hit." No, it hit shoulder and stopped but the animation continued.

Look, this isn't an E-Peen thing. What I am trying to say is that just because you are having difficulties hitting things doesn't mean someone didn't get a skilled/lucky shot on your head. You not hitting things doesn't negate the possibility that it COULD happen. Like I said earlier it seems most likely that you were desynced, which means your avatar was standing still. Easy shot at that point but sure I can humor you and he took 10 swings to knock you out while desynced. He swapped the weapon and the game caught up with you being gone and so got nothing else but you log back in with his wrench and unconcious and not where he was because of the desync. You never saw or noticed him because your client never got the message he was around and he left the area when your avatar vanished.

What you said is one of the senarios. There are other times when the hits don't appear connect AT ALL, and it registered as a hit, so you can't talk about "skills" yet on current melee system. It's way too broken as it is. Anyways, this is getting way off-track. I already said I bought your out-of-sync-before-logging theory. Let's leave it like that.
