Creation of a "Feedback/Suggestion" Forum for DayZ Standalone

Recommended Posts

Yeah, not much else needs to be said. DayZ mod has a "Suggestions" forum, which could be combined or added separately with a "Feedback" forum for the Standalone.

Would be helpful in sorting out individual stories/accounts/rants from the more reasoned suggestions/feedback necessary for the Alpha.

General Discussion forum ain't really cutting it.

I can't imagine either of them being significantly helpful.

You're oblivious, how wouldn't the implementation of the forums not solve half of the threads posted in the gen discussion forums?

General discussion should be an area for questions, and well obviously general discussions on the game etc.

Implementing the forums would clean up the cluster fuck in the general forum now.

Sort of up to the people posting on said forums, rather than the divisions themselves.

so the only people who can post bugs is with mantis (for testers ) this needs a section itsself.

ive found so many in last few days.

It's more than just bugs though, general discussion is too (general! :D) broad to be used for suggestions/feedback. If anything, it'd just give the devs that extra partition to look at things which are (supposedly) suggestions/feedback. Rather than now, you have all that mixed in with the oozing stew of personal accounts/rants.

WANT SUGGESTIONS SECTION.

Keep them off the feedback tracker, they just sit there.. mocking me.. being useless.

Yeah, I think this is one of those things you take on the chin - I think the odds of it producing anything actually beneficial to the Standalone are fairly minimal on its own, but it would greatly reduce the amount of shit that's flowing through Mantis at the moment, and in turn make that a much more useful tool for the devs.

Just because I'm not agreeing with you doesn't mean I'm oblivious.

The suggestion forum on the mod has mainly generated the same ideas looped over and over and over.

My personal opinion on the matter is that the Dev Team will have a clear and concise picture of what features they want to implement, when and how...

Obscene amounts of people post in the Suggestions sub-forum, usually repeating something they haven't searched... There's enough in the Mod suggestion to look through without creating another subforum to attract loads and loads of needless posts.

Like I said; that's my personal (pessimistic, perhaps) opinion on this subject.

I mean, they haven't even capitalized "Standalone" in "standalone general discussion". /OCDrage

I think they just wanted to get a simple forum set up for release, they weren't really concerned with it being 100% efficient. Now is the time to do that with the flood of feedback.

Considering the amount of threads posted per minute, usually around the top of "game broken, etc." keeping the forums tidy and clean, and to the specific sections reduces the flamage, and hatred between individuals on the Mantis. But, I haven't thrown aside what your opinion is, rather I'm trying to enlighten you with what is presently going on, and what can be done to fix the problems.

I agree this looks more like a troubleshooting/feedback sub-forum at the moment

I get the impression that the time of suggestions has passed. Whilst I find if the Dev Team were to stumble upon a really good idea, they'd be likely to consider it, I also feel like they will not be dedicating a large portion of their time to combing through each individual thread in that sub-section. I suppose it would require clarifying before any steps were taken, but if that was the case, then creating a sub-forum would (as previously mentioned) just invite people to post needless threads.

edit; however, i'm happy to be proven wrong in my above thoughts^

At least they won't have to comb through pointless topics to find actual suggestions on a suggestion forum.

What? I've tried to read that sentance a couple of times and it still makes no sense.

That goes against everything they have said about the Alpha release. Apart from finding bugs, the entire point of the Alpha is to allow the players to participate in the game's development. If the team new exactly what they wanted to do, when and how then they probably would have just done those things before releasing the game to the public.

Guys.

I told Matt to add one.

It's K.

As far as that goes, the team DOES have a rough idea of where they are going and what order they are doing it in, it's not a democracy.

They will still ask for feedback on a lot of features though.

The sentence itself was quite clear.

I'll translate to layman's terms.

Sub-forum created = less hassle to search/find legitimate suggestions/question on a general discussion forum.

Thus, cleaning the tedious threads and relocating them to a forum where content exist in said threads should be.

Understand?
