Are screwdrivers/knives still unable to open cans or is it just me?

Last night when I played, I was doing pretty well for myself. Found a couple of hatchets, a big backpack, some openable food, and a rifle+ammo. Unfortunately, the scarcity of food and the quickness with which my hunger depletes meant that before long I was starving to death with about 5 cans of food in my pack. I have both a screwdriver and a kitchen knife, but I was unable to find a way to open any of the cans with them before I passed out. I heard that yesterday's update was supposed to allow cans to be openable with these tools, but I haven't gotten it to work yet. I just wanted to confirm that the problem wasn't just me, and everyone is still unable to use tools to open cans.

EDIT: I should mention that I also found a bayonet, and was also unable to use it to open cans.

 

Where are all you people finding can openers?!?!?

I have not been able to open any either, I hear others are having some success though

I heard the screwdriver or knife can't be damaged, or they won't open cans. I had a damaged bayonet and it couldn't open cans after the patch.

yeah i tried every posible combo of buton clicks and i couldnt get my knife to open several different types of cans..

It's not you. However on every single life I have managed to find 1-2 can openers. Bayonettes work apparently although I haven't personally confirmed this.

I can not get bayonet/fire axe/screwdriver to open cans either.... I have yet to find a can opener.

I am also convinced this is a Diabetic Survival Simulator, as I have died 3 separate times in about ninety minutes with out food

I picked up a pristine screwdriver, still no option that I could get.

Have you tried to drag your screwdriver over the can in your inventory and right click the can?

You know, eating & drinking till it says "You hunger/thirst is quenched" is not enough,

 

it just means that you ate/drank enough so you are out of critical stage of hunger /thirst, but you are not full. 

 

You need to eat till it says " My stomach feels full" !
