Extreme FPS drop yet good computer

Recommended Posts

So I've been experiencing these extreme FPS drops that become pretty consistent and drop me down to around 5 fps and I've looked up many solutions yet none seem to work. My computer is pretty good and has ran dayz easily at 30 fps on the highest quality without ANY problems. Its only until recently that this problem has risen to my attention.

You can try this to see if it works out Go to Documents > DayZ and open DayZ.cfg in Notepad. Change GPU_MaxFramesAhead and GPU_DetectedFramesAhead to = 1.

I've already tried that and it doesn't seem to affect my game at all. Let me show you my computer stats....

RAM: 16.0 GB

System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650

Just linking that you're not the only one.

Lowering graphics has helped me to get some fps unlike in Arma where it doesn't help at all when you're bottlenecked. Just don't afraid to go around low/very low on some graphic settings.

Well the thing is, I have gone lower on quality and nothing has changed besides how the game looks. I've noticed, though, that the yellow chain in the bottom right-hand corner keeps popping up like I'm going to be disconnected. Maybe that'll help?
