If you loot a can opener this will not be an issue.  The newer build [WIP] allows you to use sharp items to open cans aswell thus leading into degradation of said item.

Cans of Tuna have a pull top incase you didnt know. You can open those without a can opener. And there's always rotten fruit ofcourse.

I too had a similar problem with a ton of cans and massive hunger. Just got to find a tool mate.
