What guns do you want to see?

Knives. More knives. Throwing knives and a selection of sheaths. 

 

Also traps. Tripwires, bear traps, caltrops. Improvised weaponry. 

 

We'll no doubt get our fill of conventional, balistic weaponry. I'm more interested in unconventional, quieter, less ammunition dependent options.

Gas cooker claymore

 

1: attach your gas cooker to some string and tie the other end of the string to a pistol's trigger

i think there should be ammunition for weapons that aren't even about, like 105 shells and stuff. that way we can use the 105 shells to make HE mines and traps. if you used a howitzer shell in the 7.62mm trap i detailed above it'd have a hilarious effect, leaving your target scattered across several hundred feet

3: rip up a packet of matches and stick the striker to the inside of the magazine with your trusty tape

1: aquire pristine orange, some glue, and a presure or light activated explosive. could work with any solar panel.

2: slice orange in half exactly, remove insides. 

3: replace insides with gunpowder or other explosive

4: glue the orange back together with your chosen detonator in place

1: chop down a tree and aquire some strong rope

2: with the help of your "friends" tie the rope around the log and hoist it up into high trees.

3: (you see where this is going) set up a tripwire, that will release the rope.

I want to see low end  weapons, melee, civilian weapons, crafted / makeshift weapons.

 

NO consistent military spawns.  And military guns only as VERY VERY rare occurrence.

guys come on! there have to be military weapons! because of one reason:

 

somebody had to fight against the infection! and that was the task of military! thatswhy there must be military stuff!

and if you want to be taken serious (developer) there have to be more broken military gear (like tanks, vehicles and other Environment) left (not usable)!

 

further more am missing:

 

- overrunned convoys

- road barriers

- corpses, corpses, corpses, corpses, corpses,

 

now i see just empty streets and its more like a fallout. i want to see eating zombies!

i think there should be working tanks. the problem with a tank is that it's tracks will break after 40 miles and it'll run out of petrol before you get over the closest hill.

 

just make the ammo for it as rare as those demo charges from the mod

 

 

 

 

 

nobody would use it because it'd be slow and terrible and useless, but it'd be there.

 

what most people want is just shitloads of all stuff. not high end particularly, but just stuff.

 

the more stuff there is the less common each weapon is

 

civ or farms need mosin/22 rifle spawn or something.

Tikka's maybe, it is from finland so maybe they are present in europe. Can anyone chime in on a popular long range rifle in europe?

I wouldnt suggest the remmington 700 or savage 10 as they are too american...

 

how the cz 550 fits perfectly... maybe the tikkas as well.

 

no m24 (remington 700), no as50 or anything heavy american id say. Keep them asian,euro,etc.

I'd love to see the FN Five-Seven, only because I can't afford one IRL. Also some kind  of .308 or .338 Lapua Magnum bolt action.

 

Also, it would be super cool to have a BB gun/air rifle.

Tranquilizer

 

A Tranquilizer or some kind of non-lethal way to take people down would be great.  Maybe it would reduce the need to KOS.  You could just knock them out and handcuff them if you want, maybe take a few things and leave them.  At least it's better than always losing everything and ending up on the coast again.

The only reason Chernarus was littered with NATO weapons in the mod was convenience.  They were already available in the ArmA 2 content, a hangover from the military sim that DayZ rode upon.

 

I would like to see something more akin to STALKER, predominately ex Eastern Bloc and quite rag-tag, this scenario is post apocalyptic.  The lights have gone out, there are no media delivery systems, society has collapsed.

 

Those military camps would have been rushed last-minute affairs, poorly supplied and poorly organised with no clear enemy to face or strategy to follow.  Armies only fight well against armies and don't fare well against random threats, especially when not spoon fed information.  Those zeds make me think World War Z not Night of the Living Dead.

 

 

All that being said, exotic and high grade weapons should be included and I never said NO military weapons at all, but very few to no weapons, think easter egg rarity.

 

With such weapons being rare as rocking horse shit, their mystique, value and prestige would be massively enhanced.  What fun is it if there is exotic hardware on every street corner?

 

None, that is one step closer to "Press any key to win" territory, which is so in vogue with a certain demographic who are busy ruining gaming for those who came before them.  Talk about cutting your own gaming throat to spite your face.  Some of us want more game for our money, not a short cut to the ending and boredom ... the game is what you make of it without asking to be spoon fed.

 

How to make exotic weapons rare?  Set absolute hard number limits available, so only a certain number can exist in the hive at any one time.  Stop the farming, as players loot cycle until they find what they want in a probability system.  They sure did (and still do) in the mod, which was why the .50 cal's were far more common than they should have been and I'll wager some hat-eating that was the root cause that led to their removal.  They were farmed to death, way past their intended numbers.

 

Probability loot spawn simply does not limit anything, it just increases the amount of grinding required to make low chance items appear.  Timmy Spoilt Bastards have just gotta have what someone else has got and will eventually put in effort to make sure they do when they're not supposed to have it.

 

Those exotic weapons made rare could become something of a burden as well, offering some more balance.  Think how much effort and blood was spent on helicopters in the mod, even with a limit of four per server.  Rarity made for an enduring metagame in itself ... hell even the forum member ranking carried the title "helicopter hunter".

 

Now imagine that shiny sniper weapon is now the only one spotted so far and becomes an asshat magnet ... they know you have it and everybody wants it.  You get a bonus metagame when the ammo runs out; run like hell to keep your weapon and save your skin.

 

I tire of Timmy Spoilt Bastard thinking the world owes them everything without expending effort, where there is no actual reward and such ease only detracts from the whole point of a survive and scavenge scenario in a game.  Wait for the private hives and flood those with toys, just don't make that the default and fuck it up for everyone who wants more challenge.

 

 

P.S.  My ultimate easter egg?  A VSS Vintorez, with a VSK kit somewhere out there to accompany it ... but only a couple in the entire hive at any one time.

It's Chernarus, a fictional country. Enduring the zombie apocalypse, a fictional occurance. Not to mention that NATO (or whatever NATO analog) clearly played a role in the outbreak (see availability of AR-15's in the mod/standalone, crashed UH-1Y helicopters, etc.) Either way, the USMC intervened in Chernarus in the canon of ARMA 2. Therefore, NATO weapons could be found in Chernarus.

 

Not to mention that most modern former Soviet-bloc states employ weapon systems from abroad, see Czech Republic (the country on which Chernarus is based) using AR-15's and Mk 48's for their SF. Also see Poland, Latvia, and Georgia.

 

More weapons of all kinds please. Less discrimination as outlined in the OP.

 

EDIT - That and Chernarus borders Takistan, another fictional country which had a heavy NATO presence.

I am not seeing any Chernarussian gear though?

Remington 700 is the 2nd most popular firearm in the world just behind the ak47. It is used in every country.
