DayZ-standalone - retail/ boxed?

For now, I know that dayz-standalone is only available on steam digitally.

Someone know, if standalone will be released also as retail on any time?

I always thought that digital distribution was considered as retail.

I even asked the Mods to start calling it DayZ Retail rather than DayZ SA (pet hate).

They still make boxed versions of PC games? I don't remember the last boxed PC game I bought.

A boxed version with physical copy has not been announced. I believe Rocket said that they might release a collector's edition kind of thing that came with a hard copy of the final release (post-beta), but even that is not confirmed.
