TEXT SYSTEM V.S. ICON SYSTEM

Recommended Posts

The above quote is from Dean. You didn't follow the advice.

I'm sure Dean didn't want people to report issues they have with the game, nah fuck that who would want player feedback

I like the simplicity of the current system. Then again, i like the convenience of an icon system. Pros and cons for both

l2eat, l2hydrate

I started eating everything I find and I'm up to Healthy status. Don't get any indicators except when I'm thirsty, which happens once every hour or two. When that happens, I eat and drink whatever I couldn't pack down earlier and I'm good to go. I actually like the text system more than an icon only system; it can potentially give me more information about what's actually going on with my character. Which is easier to understand, "I'm really thirsty" or the correct shade of orange? How could you differentiate between medical statuses if it didn't tell you? How would you know if you're sick from the flu or sick because you ate a filthy kiwi? The little Thirsty, Hungry, etc labels could be prettied up and made into icons and the text could be reworded so it's easier to understand, but the text itself is fine.

If you open your inventory it says the level of hunger and thirst. I think that's just fine actually, no need for useless icons on the screen.  The compass i think is fine to actually. whats wrong with looking at it while holding it? I'm able to use it while running just fine. you don't have to eat every time it says your hungry. Just wait until its red. I cant even remember the last time i died from lack of food or water. So i really don't see whats wrong with that right now.

I feel like you shouldn't be able to just run places, like from the coast to NWAF, so the constant eating and drinking seems fair seeing as how you can make that trip faster than Usain Bolt.

I myself don't want ANY icons in my view. I dislike HUD's and turn them of when I have the option..

I would want them in the inventory screen along the side or bottom.

Or for us to have some sort of a "status" menu that display's detailed info about your condition.

As for the always being thirsty that people keep saying.

You need to drink until your stomach is full, eat some food before you fill your stomach up on water.

Food like rice and cereal soak up water and foods like beans and spaghetti give you some water.

As for the compass...no need to have one on screen, it doesn't make sense to just have one.

The compass is great because they have conditions, that right now don't seem to effect them but in the future I hope that broken compasses are shattered like the scopes are and the damaged once give you the wrong direction.

I suppose you would like to have a map at the press of a key as well huh?

Why the hell would I want ugly icons taking up my screen again? As for the compass, I'd rather hit the hotbar and my player look down (with my weapon still out), and look at the compass for as long as I hold the button. No need for a magical one to poof in front of my face like the mod. Less HUD all the way. The text is pretty bad, perhaps just have hunger, sickness, and dehydration indicators on the gear menu. Then just have audial and visual (not HUD) indicators for your current status, such as stomach grumbling for when your very hungry so you don't forget. This is all just my opinion I suppose, just so happens that I prefer immersion over icons on my screen.

That would be amazing to just hold down a key and you look at your compass for as long as you hold it down, even with a weapon in hands!
