Just as the title says, I keep pressing G and nothing happens, also my flashlight is always pointed to the ground so its useless

you should take a few minutes, go into the settings and look at the bindings... self learning is sooo gratifying.

1. Try Common Keys

 

2. Mash your keyboard, and narrow it down from there

 

3. Look at key bindings

 

4. If all else fails, consult the forums.
