jonno.cowie 5 Posted December 16, 2013 As you will all know rocket is working hard on Dayz SA which looks amazing. I am so impressed by how much work he and his team have put into it just to keep us players happy. The amount of items and different strategies and so on are endless and outstanding. But with that there will be problems. :wacko:Even if you had ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA long before Dayz mod or just bought the two simulators for Dayz you would of realized that there is a lot of different keys which do different actions compared to any other game. Bohemia realized this and said holy crap a new player to the ArmA series will struggle to learn all these controls without any tutorials or popups along the way. So that's what they did they made a tutorial for everything in simulator. clap clap clap to bohemia. :D personally this was so helpful when i first bought ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA as i had no idea what i was doing until i went through the tutorials. and this is where i'm getting to. As you would know by the topic this is a plea to rocket and his team. Now i don't want to be that annoying kid saying you should do this and you should do this and this.... because its usually the most stupid idea ever :facepalm:orrrr..... they have already done that and put it into the game But i truly believe if they don't do a tutorial for Dayz SA that a lot of players will be going in blind and we will have little kiddies running around saying how do i do this and so on. that will ruin the experience. ATTENTION ALL NOOBS!!!!!! THIS IS A SUGGESTION!!!!!!! please do not comment saying all this stupid shit..... ...... Back to the topic. Now by saying they should do a tutorial i'm not saying they need to make a single player Dayz SA i would like them to instead just have what they did for the ArmA series for Dayz SA.here are a couple of things that i personally would like. Basic functions (movement, standing, crouching, prone and so on)Inventory (looting, dropping stuff you don't need, Clothing and other wearable items)Medical (how to bandage and other things like that)firearms (not as is like to shoot press left mouse button but as is like different types of guns and which ones you should use for different situations) Melee ( just the simple stuff we need to know about it)I would prefer this than going into controls and trying to memorize the different actions and keys. its not enjoyable :( there are a lot of other things i would like to put down but i don't want to make it into a list of demands. i believe not only will it minimize the noobs on Dayz but it will make standalone a more enjoyable experience which is key. So please if you agree in what i say please try to get this message around and hopefully the Dayz team will notice this. Do all you can to make rocket and his team notice not only my plea but others also. :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans:cheers - Jonno
thedogfoodyayho 295 Posted December 16, 2013 I'm for it, aslong as its added after the alpha release. No more delays for new content. Until then, look at the "Controls settings" in options

weparo 613 Posted December 16, 2013 Here is how I see it. The less tutorials, the less casual players, the less kiddies, the better.

enforcer1975 1111 Posted December 16, 2013 Hey OP how about not trying to memorize the layout but actually doing it? The layout is almost always the same at least the movements share the same key even some keyboards have WASD marked even a DAU should be able to do that to a minimum and every other action not involving your character is done by mouse wheel. A solution to the problem would be create your custom layout ( like i do not because i can't memorize them but because it's in a corner i can't use my whole keyboard surface effectively with my hand. )
Karmaterror 982 Posted December 16, 2013 I think we do need tutorials. We need the casual player to boost numbers and make the game popular. It would be boring with just a bunch of vets fighting over camps and stuff. I made a thread about this a while back but it didn't go down well lol. Most people said that tutorials aren't something that belong in dayz. Iv had too many friends on steam that iv talked into buying arma for dayz. Got a lot of friends that play l4d2 so I sld them on a much better zombie survival experience. But too many have quit after there first session because they are confused....or get frustrated dying and not knowing how to do things. A couple of simple hints or tutorials at first would be great, and for us experienced players we could either disable hints or skip tutorials. If ya search SA, Tutorial youl can check out my thread where tutorials got shot down quickly lol, glad to see some positive comments here tho :)
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted December 16, 2013 No tutorials. It's that much more fun when you go in knowing as much as a Texan in a snowstorm. They can easily remove the issue of people asking questions over side,by removing side!

jonno.cowie 5 Posted December 24, 2013 No tutorials. It's that much more fun when you go in knowing as much as a Texan in a snowstorm. They can easily remove the issue of people asking questions over side,by removing side! 1. i personally think that disabling side chat will not help the situation one bit with players not knowing what to do 2. it is definitely not fun going into a fire fight not knowing what to do i don't know where you got the idea that its much more fun going in blind 3. what is so bad with having tutorials. they are helping the player community which will help the dayz sa in general
