Completely review the operation of survival!

In Dayz we are not afraid by starve to death, thirst, and not afraid to get sick and I even talking about zombies ...

In Dayz that simple, we are afraid about one thing : the night ( no one plays at night while is a SURVIVAL GAME !) and... MOSTLY OTHER PLAYERS

This game does not have a survival games, this is a PVP game ! Besides several server are solely dedicated to pvp WTF? we are in dayz sh*t ... when we play Dayz we worrying about survival.

I propose to overhaul the outdated mechanical survival !

IMPOSE a Day / Night cycle shorter ! This is the only solution to decrease the period of hunger and thirst faster!

Indeed, if there is a 45min day/night cycle, if we take the summer time it gives us a day of 45min and a night for 30 minutes for example, and although hunger and thirst descend in proportion to the duration of a day and depending on fatigue person (the fact of running tirelessly etc ...)

Currently on session 2 hours I fed once, with this day / night cycle imposed , it will eat at least 5/ 6 times and drink as much .

THEN increase the risk of disease! If a zombie hurts us (when the blood flows) CONTAMINATION IS ASSURED ! This will force us to find drug and DO NOT rush like a moron in the north for military loot only...

Finally with regard to the body temperature, it must decrease until 3 times when the nigth coming ! Forcing us to stop regularly to keep warm and avoid its concern of others!


With that, the players are more concerned about their person than other...

I wouldn't like a 45min day night cycle, would feel too gamey. I think in SA food will be more important because we will have to watch what we eat, and carnt just pig out on anything. Im always worried about dieing....until I got my camp up with spare toolbelt stuff and loadouts.

 

ATM the only thing (besides players ofc) that kills me is infection....can never seem to find antibiotics in time lol, so that keeps me on my toes. But I agree maybe should get infected more often. Body temp was done great on my old celle server....whenever it rains (day or night) you would get cold and have to build a fire. Then at night it slowly and constantly drops.

 

But no short unnatural days/nights. Best way to get night play is to pick a server in a diff time zone that's populated during night hours. The only prob is if its populated at night (and that's when you play) its likely a lot busier during day so gotta hide campsites well lol.

Because you believe that change server when night falls for a server where it's day it's realistic?

Because you believed that most of the servers that have shifted time zones are realistic?

Be aware perspective, a day / night cycle will make the world more believable, moreover you find it realistic to play a survival only during the day? lol

What is the interest of the current watch? NONE, with a day / night cycle the watch found FINALLY an utility ! Indeed, suppose you look at your watch and you see that the night will soon fall that will push you to hurry up and find the necessary to survive during the night! THATS IT DAYZ !!!

never said anything about playing only during day....I try to find a server where I get both evening play then into nighttime. Iv played servers with sped up day night cycle and didn't like it atall, night decends too quickly and feels unrealistic. How exactly would a quick cycle make it more believable?

 

Pepole may still server hop with your solution....just pick 2 that aren't in sync and always play during day. A45min day night would completely negate the watch lol....you would only need 10 mins to know whether its getting darker or lighter....now you need more like an hour....or a watch.

That's why you dont want to play at night ? I f its the only thing no worries about that the rendering of the night is only a matter of programming, if you saw the last live maked by Dean, you would never said that. The night is made

 

How exactly would a quick cycle make it more believable?

 

This is realistic if everything is cohesive, everything is a question of proportionality, if the day is shorter it is obviously necessary to review the food system or degradation clothes etc ... faster

Because you believe that taking morphine while you have the broken bone is realistic?

You think Jogging through the map without stopping is realistic?

Do you think that putting a motor in his bag this is realistic?

I can continue...

If you want realism does not play ... it remains a game! But it must be consistent.

I never said I don't like to play at night lol...I like to play at night....It rocks....faster day night would look strange as it would go light and dark very quickly....no time to even take advantage of the darkness....feels gamey like GTA or Fallout cycle times.

 

However they render the night, its gonna fall fast with a 45min cycle. Unnaturaly fast, and that's one of the things I like about dayz. It immerses you trough things like a full 24hr cycle.

 

Yes everything would be sped up to accommodate it but that too would feel strange, there are topics on here saying we have to eat/drink far too regularly. Also there is distance to think about. Would we all run faster so we can get to food quicker?, because it could still be a good 15-30min run to the next food source. If that's say 6-8 in game hours that's about 4 drinks and 3 food inbetween each town.

 

You carnt start picking apart all the little unrealistic details just to say adding one wont matter :P

These challenges are often avoided by others who prefer to play servers by preference; such as playing only for combat or for survival.

 

I think it's fine as is; the only thing I don't like are the icon indicators and wish it were to be replaced by sounds in which the current engine is quite restricted for these to become implemented. Fatigue is something that's planned for the Standalone version over the mod.

 

Our aim for the current mod is to create realistic factors without passing the limitations of the game.

Highlighting words like 'force' does not make the game sound appealing it all, it makes you sound like a dickhead. Forcing players to eat every six seconds and become infected every time you're hit assures that the game will be very boring and annoying to play.

While you are right in almost everthing i oppose a too short day cycle although the hunger and thirst ratio suggests this.

While beeing admin again for a long time i keep watch on players only to see exactly the same behaviour concerning looting...BALOTA, CHERNO, ELEKTRO, NWAF, STARY, WTF... this made us decide to reduce loot even more after doing our upgrade ( mostly military weapons, medical supplies and foodstuffs ) and wipe the hive to occupy players more and keep them from KoSing since it has been slowly starting...again and i don't want that. One thing though i found quite good even if we had an overabundance of resources that the players stole from eachothers camps when given the opportunity ( not locked up etc. ) and there is still  a lot of cooperation among players and not always KoS.

Wait till you have played the standalone.

I assure you that if you knew there were people with guns around trying to kill you, then that wouldn't be the least of your troubles.

Zombies are predictable and stupid.

Food needs to be rarer, ammo needs to be rarer.

From what I can tell the DayZ standalone will improve on most of the mods issues.
