Crates

During my adventures last night i found a wooden crate in a barn that said i can use it for storage? Has anyone else come accross this and if so what can you use it for ect?

I assume you're playting Epoch and found a supply crate. You can use it to store pop, scrap metal, tank traps, or wire fence. It can hold 12 of any one type of item. You can load 6 at a time. Put the crate and six items in your main inventory, then right click on the crate to get the option to pack crate.

Crates are also found in vanilla DayZ. I wondered the same thing.

Ah ok fair enough. Im in a normal server in dayz???

After some research, it comes to conclude that a crate is used as a crafting material but this is unknown for what would require a crate as a recipe.

A crate currently doesn't have any use. It is assumed it will be an ingredient in a crafting recipe in one of the future updates.
