Has anyone really questioned, when and why did the KoS mentality got out of control?

I am not a bandit player, but without KOS what do you have here? the fun part of the game is that imminent danger of being killed. Without players that try to figure out where other players will be and go kill them, we don't even have a game here.

It just strikes me as a strange thing to complain about. lol

First of all, not everyone KOS's. On public hive, I'm a hero, and I only KOS bandits.

Second of all, most people who get KOS'd, have it coming to them.. If the objective is to survive, you do not hang around Cherno/Elektro/NWAF all day then wonder why someone eventually shot you. If you want to survive, you take less traveled routes and get yourself geared up.. You also make wise decisions about approaching situations.

Thirdly, a plethora of Mods and heavily scripted servers where you spawn with weapons, have 1000 vehicles, or otherwise ARE NOT A PUBLIC HIVE, encourage deathmatch playstyle.

Finally, because at it's core DayZ is still a first person SHOOTER and in order to SHOOT you have to have a TARGET, and if you see someone as a TARGET you don't stop and talk to them in order to construe a reason as to why you should or should not shoot them. That's far too risky. As I said above, I play on Public hive as a hero, and I only shoot Bandits.. but if it was not for KOS bandits, then guess what? I would have no targets and I would get bored and stop playing the game..or I'd go play battlefield or CS or some other FIRST PERSON SHOOTER.

And, to conclude: Stop making KoS threads. They're fucking old. Nobody cares. Go play another game. OR at the very least, play on Vanilla servers where the KOS rate is a fraction of what it is on private hive.
