Ammo bug

Recommended Posts

Date/Time: 2012/06/21 - 01:15 (GMT-3)

What happened: I was using both a M9 SD and an AKM. Their main mags had 1 bullet each, as indicated by the new green bar.

Someone killed me and I respawned near and went quickly to take my stuff back while some friends was guarding my body.

When I got it back, all the magazines were refilled.

Where you were: Elektro power plant, on the last floor of the fire station tower.

What you were doing: using binoculars on the windows trying to find the origin of the first shoot I heard.

*Current installed version: beta 93965, code 1715, server was 1715 but beta 93825.

*Server(s) you were on: atlanta 34 I guess.

*Your system specs: I3 and some other stuff. I run the game in high res.

*Timeline of events before/after error: We came walking from cherno following the power lines.

if you log out with one bullet in your mag (or more) and you reconnect to a server your ammo gets also refilled

i can also confirm the following, which can easily be repeated by anyone:

if you combine ammo e.g. one revolver round > it becomes a full m1911 mag, then you combine back again to have a fresh new 6-round revolver mag.

nice exploit requiring very few clicks and very few seconds. basically, infinite ammo for revolver/m1911.... i've encountered at least a couple of 'new' survivors when i've restarted near cherno/elektro firing dozens of revolver shots at me while i run around like an unarmed maniac. it's pretty well known.

if the combine feature is to stay, perhaps it needs to be changed so you can only combine when the mag is FULL.

It also hapens with the M14 AIM DRM's mags. Please, fix this one quick, it's a complete game breaker.

I know this is an 'Alpha', but I think there's a problem here. And a person from the dev team can correct/insult me if I'm wrong, but I've noticed something. It seems that this mod has grown way too fast for the dev team to keep up with demand of work *expected* by the community. But there's also an advantage from this. The more players you have exposed to the game the more people you have with the skills to help develop the game and keep it going. I question whether the dev team is actively seeking(really, accepting) coders/artists/etc help on the dev team. There's gotta be a lot of people with the skills to help get the game developed and out of Alpha to Beta stage, but I'm not sure if the dev team is being humble enough to allow it.

Perhaps I'm wrong and I *hope* I'm wrong, but I've read that this ammo bug has been persistant in the mod for quite a while. Perhaps it's not an easy fix -- not sure. But it worries me that what I see as 'small' bugs like this that make 'big' differences in the game are not getting fixed, Alpha or not.
