I want more FPS on DayZ

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm new to this site, so tell me if i'm doing something wrong. But I want some more FPS on DayZ, 50-60. I'm currently getting 30-40 mostly. Sometimes 26 or so. Tell me what I need! I downloaded Speccy, and these are my PC Specs:

CPU-AMD Phenom II X4 965 Deneb 45nm Technology

RAM-11.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 573MHz (7-7-7-20)

Motherboard-ASRock 970 Extreme3 (CPUSocket)

Graphics-E241i-A1 (1920x1080@60Hz) 1024MB NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 (EVGA)

Storage-931GB Western Digital WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 ATA Device (SATA)

Optical Drive-HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS40 ATA Device

Please reply asap. Thank you a ton in advance!

If you're serously getting 30-40 fps on average, you're doing as well as a lot of people with newer much more expesive rigs.

Carry on.

30-40fps isnt bad for those specs, but you should be able to get a bit more out of it with some tweaking. though 50-60 is unlikely.

First heres a pretty decent guide http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/28160-guide-how-to-set-up-your-graphics-properly/

If thats not enough then you might want to consider overclocking your cpu as dayz is very processor heavy.

Also i recently started using RAMdisk, and while it didnt improve my frame rate dramatically it did make everything run a lot smoother with far fewer lag spikes. here's the guide i used http://www.22ndsas.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=9205

I am finding out and learning that your FPS depends on the SERVER.

I myself, have been pulling my hair out trying to get the best performance.

but fps are only an illusion.

for example, some people get 70 fps on my server, but it MIGHT take sometimes 5 seconds to bandage because of lag.

I'm sorry you guys must of misunderstood. I meant to say what do I need to buy, pc parts wise, to achieve that FPS. Thanks for the fast reply!

Replies are all correct, sounds like you misunderstood. Arma 2 is not optimized. Also it's an old game. You could spend 2000$ on a new high end rig and get almost the same FPS you do now. Noone can guarantee you that you'll get 50-60 (LOL) FPS average on any rig no matter the price. There's a million factors involved. Do you want to buy a new rig or update parts so maybe you gain a couple of FPS? Go on then, you dont'? Then don't. But don't expect miracles.

Why do you 1000$ fanatics call 30-40 low FPS? Low FPS is about 15-30, not 30-60. You should be happy you can play the game without lag.

Yeah, as others have said, don't waste your money chasing the dragon here - the DayZ mod is a performance nightmare and you could spend thousands of dollars and end up with LESS performance than you have now. 30-40 is absolutely fine, and the Standalone will be coming along soonish anyway, which will hopefully have much better performance.

Okay, the only reason is because when I come into a server after a restart I'll have about 50-60 fps, at least that's what the debug monitor says. But as you guys have said its not worth it, thanks!

Thats more a server issue than a problem at your end. a lot of servers run far too many extra scripts with too many players/vehicles and don't restart often enough. nothing much you can do about that other than find a better server.
