Hiding stuff underwater in the SA?

Recommended Posts

I think this would be an interesting idea, since the arma 3 engine has great support for underwater gameplay we could do something with ponds.

Be fun to hide some rare loot underwater by the coast in a waterproof box.

SA isn't Arma 3

I don't know if it still works but people used to hide tents in the water all the time.

The standalone isn't based on ARMA 3, so anything underwater-based would have to be coded in separately. However, assuming they did set up an underwater engine, they'd need to factor in the effects of water on certain items (in both long and short periods of time) and how items could drift around; it wouldn't make much sense if you left an M16A2 hidden at the bottom of a lake for an in-game week and pull it out expecting it to be in perfect condition.

sure i like it, get a capsule or ube of metal, weld one end closed and the other hinged with a watertight seal open place gun inside, get in your boat and drop that thing a pond.add a solid chunk of metal so it stays under and BAM, camping tent underwater

Chucking one of those little yellow boxes into one of the various ponds or reservoirs is probably what we'll get on release.

Can we have some things float?

Then we can have a buoy attached to the underwater stash and haul it in with the boat like those crab fishermen.

They are bringing in Arma 3 style rain, why shouldn't they be able to bring over swimming, not that I know much about coding.

Lots of people think they'd head to sea in a apocalypse... I wonder what sort of complications could become of a sea life.

Maybe force a nutrition system on people? Scurvy? Canned fruit?

Stuff should be able break or float away when placed in water...not that i'm entirely against this problem but in the future you might not see a player anymore because everyone is diving for "treasures" 24/7... Can players drown in ArmA 3 when they dive without gear?

Yes, there was, maybe there still is? Even a glitch that you couldn't breath when above the water doing the swimming animation.

So basically water was a deathtrap.
