Ridiculously low fps

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody

I know there is tons of threads all over the internet that try to help about bad fps but I simply tried pretty much everything and I did not find anything at all.

Problem:

I bought a new computer with pretty much some of the most high end hardware you can get these days and still get very low fps in dayz (20-30). I can play ANY other game on very high settings and still get 60+ fps except for dayz...

My pc setup:

Intel i7-4930K @ 4.4Ghz
32GB Kingston DDR3 @ 1800Mhz
Geforce GTX Titan
1 TB Samsung SSD

Solutions I have already tried:
  • Reinstall DayZ and all Arma Mods
  • Updated all drivers (mainboard & gfx)
  • Optimized config & profile files according to several youtube videos and posts...
  • Turned down all ingame video settings to the lowest possible (Crysis 3 Ultra np but oh well...)
  • Enabled/Disabled Mainboard EPU
  • Optimized BIOS
  • Giving the Arma2 process realtime priority in task manager
  • Assigning a special core to arma2 and removing all other processes from that core
  • Disabled Antivirus & System scanning

I honestly have almost given up on ever finding a solution to this problem and its really annoying due to there also being frame lags where it drops to almost nothing every couple seconds.

If anyone has ANY idea what I could've forgotten or what I could try then please post your suggestions!

Thank you in advance.

Have you tried different servers?

Are you playing actual DayZ or Epoch?

With the kind of rig he is runnung, I cant see the mod or even servers causing this big an issue. Granted, they can impact performance, but with a freakin Titan and 4930 it shouldnt be that much. I think. Haha.

At OP, this may sound silly, but have you possibly got your hdmi ports mixed up and have your monitor plugged into the cpus onboard gpu rather then the gpu port itself. I have seen it before. Lol.

How would his machine at home influence serverside-performance? That's why I asked for the server in the first place - as they greatly impact performance.

A server not restarted in a couple of days can easily give you extremely bad FPS while it can give you 60 FPS again fresh after a restart.

The reason I ruled out server performance was because the OP stated that he gets 60+ frames on other games. He should be getting SHITLOADS more then that with this setup. If I spent that kind of money to get a paltry 60 frames id be ready to kill somebody.

edit: spelling

SERVER != HOME-PC

His computer can not affect the performance of a server he's playing on and thus he needs to make sure he gets those frames on any server - as I can assure you I get 60 FPS even in towns when playing on one of my very own publichive servers, while there are servers that haven't been restarted in a while and give me about 5-10 FPS.

The server sometimes is the one dictating the max clientside FPS.

To answer some of the questions.

  • Yes I do play on epoch servers mostly, and I would kinda believe the bad mod optimization argument if there wasn't pretty much everybody else on the same servers getting 40+ frames in the same areas as I. Also I just tried playing on normal dayz servers and I get a ton of fps (100-120) as long as I'm not near any zombies, as soon as I went into a little village it dropped back to ~40 or lower
  • And yes I'm pretty damn sure that I have my gfx card plugged in correctly lol

I wouldn't worry too much, as 40 is more than average on Epoch and perfectly fine to play with anyway.

I don't see it happening that you're going to be boosted up anymore anyway - and the others might just be making their numbers look better anyway. (It's that penis-syndrom, you know?)

I think you misunderstood, I dont get 40 on epoch I got those on normal dayz when entering towns.

20-30 like you stated in your initial post is pretty normal on Epoch in my book. I am afraid there's barely anything you can do, as Epoch is extremely poorly optimised and you need to be lucky to get more FPS.

I know what you are saying mate, but I think you misunderstood my thought process. You are absolutely correct, his computer cannot affect the performance of a server he is playing on. But that isnt to say that server performance is the only issue causing his low fps.

If my 770 can handle a solid 70ish frames while playing just about every dayz server I have tried, im sure as hell his Titan can.

I know the whole plugged in properly thing sounds silly. But like I said, ive seen it before and its an extremely easy thing to rule out.

Sorry for the fontsize - I was tired. The reason I'm pointing it out like that is that servers impact your performance more than anything else, especially with that setup he's got and especially on Epoch.
