So a thought is the possibility of using a melee weapon like the hatchet in order to bar a door closed so other zombies or players can't use the door from the other side.

And how would it be like? If you want to block a door with a hatchet (with is basically a wooden bar), how would you do it?

To be honest I see this as a griefer tool.

There are several reasons I'd oppose it.

A) not many doors have looped handles that would lock them shut.

B) how to remove them if a person barricades themselves in and server hops.

C) griefing.

No, because people will do that on firehouses and whatnot, and it's just like barbed wire.

Zombies don't care if a door is locked or shut anyway. They just glitch through or attack through walls...BIS knows of this problem and didn't do anything about it for years so don't expect them to do this in the near future.
