PMC / BAF DLC-Texture cause Lag/Stutter

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I bought these 2 DLCs together with Arma 2 OA, years ago.

On my journey to get the best performance that is possible out of DayZ, i heard that installing these DLCs a) gets you more detailed Textures and b) can increase your performance ingame, especially on "good rigs".

So i installed them and the game looks alot better now, but i experience some sort of weird "lag" or "stutter" when playing.

Every 5 to 15min i get a "lag" or whatever, where my FPS drop to like 0 for 1-3 Secs, after that i can continue playing as normal with good performance.

Has anyone else experiences this and/or has a solution to this problem?

My specs:

  • CPU: FX 6100 @ 3,8 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB DDR 3 RAM
  • Graphics Card: Radeon HD 7870 OC (2GB VRAM)
  • DayZ on RamDisk
  • DayZ Commander Launch Parameters: -winxp -cpuCount=6 -exThreads=6 -noLogs -noPause -maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=2047
  • Arma 2 / OA / Personal Config Tweaks done

Make sure your in-game memory setting is default. Disable AA and/or set post processing to very-low (if you have it at off leave it). Also disable V-sync.

It might not have to do with your DLC's or the changed setup. Since a couple of DayZ-patches back the servers stutter from time to time (every 5 minutes to be precise) when they're performing a timesync.

What you're describing there sounds pretty much like that to me.

Can you be precise about your stutters and lags and do they happen when playing just ARMA 2 as well? I mean - have you tried playing around in the editor or a custom-mission on your own for a while and experienced the same issues?

@ kichilron

Happens while playing:

Arma 2 SP+MP

Arma 2 OA SP+MP

Arma 2 OA Wasteland

DayZ Vanilla

any other DayZ Mod

Its just like a "freeze frame" or something like that, 0 FPS then i can continue playing - tried various setting-sets, reinstalling / fresh installing, let steam search the gamefiles for errors etc.

I experience something similar, but I bought the DLCs like 2 months before these lags appeared. I have a Athlon II X2 240 and a Radeon HD5750, maybe some beta patch added this bug for AMD CPUs/graphic cards.

I'll write down the intervals of the stutters and maybe other causes as soons as I play Arma again - atm I don't have a proper monitor..
