How do people stay alive?

Hi!

First of all I enjoy this game a lot and I like the way u need to play to survive a lot. I've been playing extremely careful and I've played for about 2 1/2 hours and then I died because I broke my bones by a door. However something bothers me.

You spawn at the coast, and I hear that there are alot of bandits in the city, which is all the way up north. But it takes 2-3 hours to run all the way up there. How do people get there without dying? Are there people who are alive for like days? Could somebody explain me this.

there are citys on the coast too. i use this map www.dayzmap.info . check it out. bandits are everywhere. and there are surviors everywhere that assume your a bandit. now when you aim at people if they have murdered you will hear your heart beating. its kinda cool

At the moment a broken bone before you get your hands on some morphine is game over for a lone player most of the time. It's only since the past few days that a broken bone is so easy to get.

This mod is still being developed and balanced and things change each day.

You have to put up with stuff like that and be patient and try to adapt until it gets better.

Oh, I'm not so bothered about the fact that the door killed me, I knew it could've happen so it's my own bad. It's just that I don't understand how people obtain sniper rifles and a sniper suites. Somehow it feels like they are alive for days and never die. That's how their items look like atleast.

To me it feels like you need to run 4 hours to get into some interaction or go to the north and then u lose it in seconds. Or am I missing something here?

It takes less than an hour to get to the furthest North part of the map.

Before I died to a bug, I was alive for over 2 weeks. Just stay away from Cherno and Electro. You don't need to go there ever.

missing something. go check out that map. the airfeild in the south has good stuff. and you can find tools such as binoculars and hunting knifes ect in the general stores in bigger towns. also in bigger towns such as Cherno and Elektro go to churchs and firestations. theres also other good spots but ill leave that for you to find. dont want to spoil anything. just Be carefull. both towns are on the south coast and theres lots of Pkrs there.

go to cherno and electro. its fun. dangerous, but fun.

I prefer Berezino. In Cherno and Electro you know there are bandits about and it's a matter of time before one shoots you, in Berezino for example you don't. There could be or may not be, so you have to go through stealthy, it's nervy as hell. I died to a bug, ran to Berezino, was just in the apartments picking up a ghillie suit when I heard someone open a can above me and start drinking. Very tense times.

I think you got it mixed up....

Run 4 hours to get interaction? You spawn on the coast and you don't need to run 2-3 hours to get to cherno or eletrko, it takes 10-20 minutes unless you spawned very far away.... in which case you can just respawn somewhere closer.

And going up north has FAR less people, most people are in the coast. I think you got north/coast mixed up.

Anyways, finding sniper rifles/suits is just either getting lucky or someone server hopping and looting army tents.

As a new player you should be avoiding cherno/elektro/stary/any airfield

These are the places where most players go, and 80% of the time another player will shoot you. I would only go to these places if there aren't many players online (less then 10 go to stary, any amount of players and someone FOR SURE is at cherno or elektro).

Honestly it's mostly just getting lucky. My 1st run at elektro got me so much stuff:

hunting knife/hatchet/wood/M1911/Winchester/Compass/Watch/Czech backpack/Matches/Camping Tent

From going to ONE city, I have enough stuff to go inland and never go to a city again....once you get matches/hatchet/hunting knife you are pretty much set.

Ok lets say you freshly spawned with nothing but 1 bandage and 1 painkillers + flashlight in backpack.

By using some of the maps on internet you can assess your situation and decide:

Do I want to risk (since I dont have anything to loose) and go to Cherno/Elektro?

Or do I want to play it safe and head north and loot small towns along the way?

Yesterday I was killed after a week, spawned near elektro. Took my chances and went to the city,got some stuff (better pack, Remingthon shotty) but got eventually killed by moron in ghillie suit with military grade rifle.

Then I spawned again,this time west of Cherno and this time I did better by going to the city (also maybe I was just lucky that not so many players were there at that particual moment).

Got alice pack,matches,compass, makarov pistol and Two barell shotty.

Nothing too flashy but enough for me to head north and start looking through deerstands.

Btw after like 10 deer stands I found just Glock with 1 mag, M9 pistol with 1 mag and Reminghton without any bullets :-(. That was back in before last hotfix so I hope I will find something better today.
