thomas-tk@live.dk 39 Posted October 31, 2013 This is just a suggestion. Its not completly thought though. If it has been suggested before, I havent been able to find it anywhere. Suggestion: To be able to apply pressure to a wound To get straight into it, an interesting thing for the standalone regarding first aid and bleeding, would be the ability to apply pressure to a wound. The essence of the idea would be that you will have an option to apply pressure to a wound in order to reduce blood loss. The trade off would be that you use your hands to do so, leaveing you unable to use your wepons.Since the SA (as far as I understand) will be able to detect where damage occurs on the body, there could be different animations and different tradeoffs for each area of the body.Example 1: Your right arm has been damaged and is bleeding, you can apply pressure with your left hand, reducing bloodloss and still be able to walk.Example 2: Your left leg has been damaged and your bleeding. You can aply pressure with both your hands and either be able to stand still or sit down to conserve more blood, or be able to limp away, though that will lessen the amount of blood you can save by applying pressure (If that makes sense?)Example 3: Your hit in the torso and is bleeding. You can roll over on your back and apply pressure with both your hands, unable to move. This will all be dependent on how sophisicated they decide to make the body and first aid system of course. If vital organs is going to be included, that will of course change the premisis of this suggestion. The basic idea is just that if you find yourself with partners, and your are bleeding but maby have run out of bandages (since they arent gonna be all over the place in the SA), you might want to reduce the amount of blood your loosing until you can recieve help. So in overall it could add futher to the teamplayer experience. Also, I could see it as an interesting player interaction, if you bump into a person in a building who defenseless, trying to save his life. Some might consider it an easy kill, while others would see it as a possibility to help another player. So yea, thats pretty much it…
Guest Posted October 31, 2013 A major principle behind applying pressure is that you will almost mostly be stationery when doing so, instead of lowering your weapon, perhaps you would have to be in the crouch position. So you can stop, check your bearings, have a look around to see if any help is nearby, the negative being that you can't do it for long and that you are stationery, easy prey for bandits if they want to rob you. just my two cents
thomas-tk@live.dk 39 Posted October 31, 2013 I agree completly that you would get most out of being stationary since moving around increse your blood circulation. But if you are wounded in the arm, I could still see you have the option to move around, at the cost of you loosing more blood than being stationary.
Skat3rat 1633 Posted October 31, 2013 I think it's a neat idea. Other players should be able to apply pressure to the wound too. Also what would be neat is some make shift bandage. Maybe you had a spare white shirt and some string. You could craft a makeshift bandage to help reduce the bleeding until you get the proper tools to stop the bleeding altogether. enforcer1975 1111 Posted October 31, 2013 Nice idea but will i really be able to apply pressure to a wound all by myself if someone shot out my guts or in my neck and blood is squirting all over the place? Arms and legs may be easier to treat like with a handkerchief to slow down the bleeding.
heatwave6823 1 Posted November 26, 2013 this is a really good idea for if u dont have any bandages they should just have it take way longer for the bleeding to stop like this and the bleeding to come back every now and then till u actually bandage it. only for a lil while tho. AP_Norris 1018 Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) Its a nice idea, but clothes can be ripped into bandages which makes me think you'll probably never be without bandages unless you really wanna run around with no pants/ shirt on.So... Not necessary gameplay wise as bandages will be improvisable but still a good factor for realism and maybe good for unconscious patients, he's been hit by a 7.62, no time to bandage do the transfusion and hold that bullet wound sort of thing. korrobravin 96 Posted November 27, 2013 If the DayZ animation engine suppourts IK rigs(Not sure if it does...), then it would be relatively simple to have the animation move the character's hand to the blood fountain location (since Dayz keeps track of that in SA).This would also be good for people who don't want to destroy their fancy clothes by tearing them apart to use as bandages.

korrobravin 96 Posted November 27, 2013 Yes, might wanna keep ur pants on for once... Especially if it's the dead of winter and you simply cannot afford to lose your pants!
