More FPS on Dayz

Recommended Posts

I've been having trouble ever since I downloaded the mod. I can't get more than 10 fps even with all the settings on very low. I've tried editing the profiles and launch paramaters but nothing seems to be giving me more fps. Like 10 fps is its cap. I run a Sony viao Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with a Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00 GHZ (2 CPUS), 6144MB of ram, and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 440. I was thinking it might be my proccesser but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks

I have your graphics card overclocked to shit limit. Processor overclocked to 3.2 GHZ, 2 cores. I have 4 Gb RAM. And I get 30 FPS on medium low. I guess you either have to play some overclocking with the graphics card or it might be just that its a laptop. It is, right?

The CPU is definitely the main problem in this build, you wont get any better fps without buying a new laptop/PC. Your CPU is a very old Intel one with a shitty architecture they only tried to improve with higher clocks, they sucked back in time already imo :)

Its actually a desktop. And can you instruct me on how to overclocker my GPU and CPU? Thanks

Ahh I see. I thought so. I was thinking about just upgrading the proccessor to an Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge 3.1 GHZ. You think that will do the trick?

Processor will do the trick. Easy and safe stuff (and free) to overclock the GPU is called MSI Afterburner. You choose what the values you want it to be and just launch it every time you want to play or whatever. You will need to check the setting with MSI Kombustor which is included with the afterburner. It will be fail and trial but once you set it at the point its not crashing, you will be good.

Definetly need more RAM. Aim for 4 gb.

What if I told you that he already has 6 GB?

/thread

A new processor will do the trick, however you'd still have to play on low settings/ resolution as the video card is pretty low-end as well - also you will need a new motherboard and new RAM (CPU won't fit on your current socket and DDR3 RAM is required).

Don't mean to be a party pooper but. .

1) Your processor is probably this one and you want to upgrade to this one. The one you own is made for LGA775 socket, the other one for LGA1150. This means you'll also have to upgrade your motherboard.

2) I'm pretty sure the system you own now has DDR2 RAM. The new one is 99% going to have DDR3 support only. Therefore you'll have to buy new RAM also.

lol ninjad. that should teach me to do other things while replying.

Ahh I see. Well can you recommend any motherboards that would be compatible with Intel i5 without really breaking the bank?

I sure could, and many people would. But I think the best approach is for you to sit down and inspect carefully what kind of components you have in your current desktop, make a list out of them, think about your budget carefully (new cpu, new mobo, new ram), and then, after gathering all that info, make a new thread in the computing section so people can see what you own, what can be used in a new system, and suggest components with as much as high price to performance ratio possible.
