Quick Dropping And Grabbing Of Items

Recommended Posts

I hate being chased by zombies, completely unarmed but there is a perfectly good winchester on the ground that I can't pickup because if I do the zombies will eat me.
I also hate being held up and being told to drop my weapon and as I am dropping my weapon the piece of shit

shoots me.

Here's the solution...

If you are crouched you can press the action button near the gun quickly grabbing it and running at the same time or any other item. Depending on the item's size the chance of missing it or not being able to pick it up is larger if it is small, while if it is larger the chance is higher.

And if you are being held up you press the hotkey for the gun that quickly tosses it on the ground...
But only use it if you are in a hurry because there is a chance of the weapon being damaged.

One other suggestion ::

Lowering weapons whilst being proned. Instead of looking amazingly threatening, proned on the ground with your gun being pointed around if you take your finger off the raise wep hotkey ( thats been mentioned in standalone ) the gun then flat on the ground

Sort of like this ::

If that illustration is too hard to read then picture the animation you get whilst

crawling, now picture it frozen and that's how you will look proned with your gun lowered.

Being crouched shouldn't be a requirement.

And this could be done the same way opening a door works; you hit enter/middle-mouse-button when looking at a gun, and you pick it up, like in ArmA 3... except hopefully a lot more reliable.

Now if the game could be made where switching weapons didn't make you stand still like an idiot. >.>

Maybe have the range for more important items like ammo and guns be larger so you can grab one as you're sprinting past it.

Shouldn't come with rounds unless they're loaded in it though.

Shouldn't come with canteens unless they're filled though.

While i support the idea of having it easier to grab stuff from the ground you can't grab a rifle with 5 mags in an instant so everything should come at a cost. Btw. i don't have problems grabbing stuff while i'm pretending to be meals on heels.

Problem with arma is the engine makes you handle like a dang robot.  I can easily see something, pick it up, and all without stopping in RL.  Your character however is like

1. I see a item.

2.  Slowly crouches over pile.

3.  Slowly picks up item (there is often a second delay)

4. Slowly stand up.

Takes 6-10 seconds to pick up a can of beans and walk away....  The faster this is fixed the better,

1 (SalamanderAnder): "2, PICK UP THAT ITEM."

2: "I SEE THE ITEM."

2:  "SLOWLY CROUCHING OVER PILE."

2: "PICKING UP ITEM."

2: "SLOWLY STANDING UP."

*BEEP BEEP*

That's how I just heard this post in my mind. 2 being my character.
