Phexon 0 Posted June 21, 2012 So i had a friend that was interested in playing dayZ but we didnt know if his computer was going to run it well enough to be worth buying. So we installed my copy using my steam account and it went well enough that he decided to buy the game but now that he has it on his own steam account it still logs into my saved character. He is currently reinstalling the game but i was wondering if anyone went through anything like this before?
JinxX 11 Posted June 21, 2012 I'm pretty sure the games master server logs characters by CD Key (or some form or other of tracking that.) Try having him check to see if theres some way to change it on his Steam. Sorry hella tired cant think straight thats the best I can think of atm.
Lozel 0 Posted June 21, 2012 you need to unistall, and reinstall the retail copy that he purchases. Also you need to do a complete uninstall relating to any information of the old copy. I.E. going into your steam file under "my computer."
XzB3A57zX 1 Posted June 21, 2012 The game uses a key located in your registry. When you installed your copy, it gave your friend's PC your CD key. I have no idea how to fix it, although I'm fairly certain a simple reinstall won't.
hedich 0 Posted June 21, 2012 If you both using steam then this wont be an issue as it switches the regkey's auto when logging in from different steam accounts, so to be honest it sounds like your friend is trolling you and playing with your account on his pc, just change your password and see if it works.
