Frytek 130 Posted October 9, 2013 Hello...What do you think about traps? Do you like using them for your advantage? Tell me also some cool stories about making a trap.Mine is here. I obtained a PKM on a Private server (not an easy ass one). I decided to use it. Took two tank trap kits and placed them on a road from Kamenka to Vybor(about 2 clicks from Vybor). As I had a bandit skin, I had to find some clever hiding. Spotted sth like a wall rubble near the road that fitted camo nicely. I went prone and waited. After couple of minutes I heard a Ural coming. Shit, forgot to zero the sights on 100! Click click there we go. Saw a driver behind the window. Waited untill the truck appeared from behind a curve. Squeezed the trigger, sent the driver to hell. Popping wheel so they dont escape. I see 3 guys dismounting from the truck. They fire at general direction, but one of them spotted me. Bullets smashing rocks under my belly. Rambo belly roll down the rubble. Got up, made swiss cheese of one. Turned up on others. They were running away. Sent tens of bullets towards them for the effect, putting them down. Hands shaking. Luckily a wheel in trucks inventory. Took their stuff and truck. Left in a hurry and giggles just to lose it hour later because of lead poisoning (if you know what I mean).
rossums 2190 Posted October 9, 2013 (edited) I think there should be a lot more emphasis on more conventional methods like this.If you want to attack someone , you are realistically going to want to be in a safe position waiting for them to give you an opening - not run in guns blazing like a retard shooting everyone as soon as you see them - there are just too many factors for that to be even a remotely logical choice.Anything that provides more varied game play like this instead of relying purely on guns gets my vote - there are so many interesting things we could be doing with the survival and stealth aspects.__The best one I got was a friend and I managed to catch part of a conversation on side chat about a chopper at a certain location - knowing that it's on side chat we just assumed it was going to be a trap so we kept our distance and made our way to the chopper. The chopper was on the roof at Polana factory, we came from the south, heading north, and decided to stay in the treeline and watch the chopper for a short amount of time.My friend spotted zombies on one of the deer-stands in the distance which meant there were players nearby, uh-oh, we only had a Lee Enfield and a CZ550.Using the CZ my friend kept an eye on them - 2 guys with ghillies, one AS50 and one DMR. Oh great.I had to eat my dinner so we both just sat watching the factory and he decided to grab a bite to eat too - after around 20 minutes or so we got some movement! The 2 guys had obviously gotten bored so they bee-line straight for the chopper on the Polana roof, unluckily for them they had landed it in a way that the chopper was facing directly towards us. Morons. We waited until they jumped in the chopper and turned the ol' bird on and then we both opened fire on the cockpit. 2 dead players - not the ones that THEY expected. The fallout on side chat after that made the long wait totally worth it - we were accused of teleporting, using invisibility, god mode - you name it, we apparently had it - these guys could not accept they just got ganked and insisted that we were cheating. The admins took a look at the logs and informed them that the only thing about the situation that was funnier than them being killed was the fact that the admin had been aware of the entire thing and found it totally hilarious, I don't think I ever recall seeing them after that event.. sanguinius 7 Posted October 10, 2013 Nice story Rossums, completely indicative of high geared players. :) I guess some may find this story morally disturbing... Anyway, I was heading to my base, when I came upon a player running across a field. He was heading to the Stary Trader, conveniently in a straight line across the field. I had my Mk12 SPR, and so I took him down. Simple, right? Well, since death messages weren't enabled, I headed over thinking I had took him down with a double tap. (I actually missed on the second one.) I saw he was still alive, and felt like a monster, so I took everything off of him, including a nice M14, and epi'd him. He was annoyed. I laughed, and walked slowly into the distance. A few minutes later, I heard him asking for help on side. I would have too, as it's just plain annoying. I saw a hero respond, they both got on TeamSpeak together, in the same channel, and I guess they worked it out. So I came back, and set up camp in the ruins. (We were at Kumyrna). Ten minutes later, I see a Blue SUV pull up, and the hero go and heal him. I waited until they were both up, and took 'em both down with the M14. Aah, a beautiful trap it was.
Day Unit 18 Posted October 10, 2013 All three posts have considerable length but I read all three. Soaking up the knowledge :)
MitchP 9 Posted October 12, 2013 A good tactic I like to use for traps is to put 3 or 4 tank traps on the other side of a small rise and sit just off the side of the road and wait for a vehicle to come along and smash themselves up, then I kill the inhabitants and take their gear. And maybe the vehicle if I can repair it quick enough before they come back

GMGranger 0 Posted October 12, 2013 I once put up an ural right outside elektro, had a ghillie so i went just about 50 feet away from it, phroned and waited. Two guys in a UAZ fully geared jumped out, pop pop! :)

hogscraper 328 Posted October 13, 2013 I've seen people use tank traps and barbed wire to funnel people a certain way through Elektro and Cherno. I generally hunt bandits but this one group of four I came across, I had to respect their planning and left them alone just to watch their plan unfold. One guy with his back to the coast, traps set on main road. People coming down the coast would try to avoid traps by turning towards the coast but some random bullets in their direction and most were panicking before turning into town. A couple streets well barricaded directed around five cars that day into a kill box they had set up. Was pretty cool watching it all happen.
