Weather and Environment in SA

Recommended Posts

Question. In the standalone, will the weather change?

A bit far out there, but high and low tide would be cool. Maybe find things on the beach at low tide.

Or being able to build a raft :)

Oh... how about a hot air baloon!!

Weather (rain, snow, etc) will change, and will have an effect on your health if you are not protected from it (IE you can freeze and catch a cold or wear too much and get heat exhaustion)

Tide will not, most likely; the way water levels are done in ArmA is a little fiddly. It isn't impossible, however; I have seen some ArmA 3 mods that raise/lower water levels, but it isn't gradual from the beach sloping up; the way water is in ArmA, the water all around the map (sea level) would raise by the same amount at the same time. Thus at the same time the "tide" is rising, all the lakes would flood as well.

Ah cool. Well weather is pretty awesome as-is!

Is the SA still basedon ArmA? or is it a ground-up build?

Ground-up Mostly. That's what I've gathered. It has been re coded for more server sided stuff. For less hackers, and zombies/loot server side controlled.

I think.

That is awesome. All the hackers is the reason I stopped playing. Whenever I got to day 2-3 of surviving, some hacker joined and either dropped a nuke or did a thunderdome attack.

I watched all the videos on the dev blog, it looks pretty awesome!

Essentially, ArmA is ArmA engine 2.0. ArmA 3 is 3.0. DayZ Standalone is like... 2.5.

Does that make ToH 2.25? :P or was there not much modifying done between Arma2 and ToH?

ToH is like... 2.5 and 0.5 at the same time. So on average? 1.5... Super helicopter physics, no infantry.
