Hosts, please start watching your servers.

65 people, 0 zombies. Last night there were 50 zombies on the same server. No loot either.

This seems to be a standard for a lot of NA servers :-/

It's a standard issue for every servers.

I must restart the EU7 every 4 hours or so, or everything is going to shit ( zombies and loot ).

Dunno if it's a known issue.

I have to restart mine quite a bit because of this as well, not too sure what causes it, could be the low FPS that it runs on.

Could there perhaps be an automated server reset system?

FireDaemon + arma2oaserver.exe run as a service set to restart on a set interval would do the trick. I use FireDaemon to regularly restart hive and hiveauth, and automatically recover oaserver if it crashes. I dislike the idea of restarting automatically, because there's been many a time when arma2oaserver.exe has remained stable well beyond its sanity limit (~8hrs instance up-time, on average), and I watch my server pretty judiciously with VNC and RCon. If that's not an option, then FireDaemon's automatic restart system is probably worth it.

This is really unfortunate.. afaik resets seem to cause vehicles (partially/unrepaired at least) to despawn.

i keep an eye on mine with rcon gui, but for the most part the server host has it under control, haven't had any major issues with it.

Be mindful.

Rocket Wrote:Tents disappearing are a result of the server admins (those providing and running the server), restarting the connecting application when it gets "hung" on startup. This then kickstarts the server into carrying on, but skipping vehicle and tent generation. On busy servers this can happen quite alot as the server is trying to create items and it cannot create them fast enough. So your tent is not lost, vehicles are not lost, but if server administrators don't restart the whole server, and just restart HIVE, then the vehicles and tents won't initialize properly and you get the situation you have described above

Could there perhaps be an automated server reset system?

Had my own for Chicago 5/6/7 & 8 from the get go and soon there should be an official one coming out. Restarting them on crashes, after a fixed amount of time & when the memory has stacked up too much due to a leak. It does the same as mine, but I wrote mine just for myself, the new one will have a config so anyone can use it, that should fix a lot.

With no knowlage of coding, I wonder would it be possible for a script of some sort that scans the server from time to time, checking if loot and zombies are spawing, if they arn't it causes the server to do a controlled restart.

Food for thought.

I think this problem is more apparent now that loot also despawns.

As long as the old loot kept lying around, it wasn't much trouble when nothing new spawned.
