Servers that stay populated during night time

Recommended Posts

So, I've been recently delving into DayZ and all it's variants, mods, scripts, additions and doodads. It's incredible how well the community has received this game since last year and I love (mostly) the direction devs have taken the DayZ compendium.

However, I am MISSING NIGHT TIME PLAY. The suspense of a dark night is so enthralling. So where are the night servers?
Even if it was an accelerated time cycle I'd love to get some night play in knowing there's more than 10 players on the server. It keeps pacing slow, players aware, and offers less forgiveness that high noon PvP o'clock ****fest.

Anyone know of a good server (for any mod) I am hungering to experience DayZ like I did when the only reverse time server was Virgina 13 (Midnight Oil.) Chime in with suggestions or if you remember the 'good ol' dayz.'

AWA #1 (EU server) still has a day/night cycle. I think they cut night time down to 6 hours, but it's much better than what most servers offer these days.

Yeah, most servers are catering to all the.. new players - of which there are many.

They don't want DayZ, they want to shoot people and shoot zombies, they don't give a shit about the survival aspect - making it dark just makes it harder, why would we want that!?

Unfortunately server owners target the lowest common denominator, there are still a few decent servers remaining but you have to sift through all the 24/7 Daytime, Custom Loadout, 3000+ Vehicle shit servers.

What we need is DayZ Authenticator!

It works like dayz commander but only shows authentic dayz servers with all their stats.

Wait....doesn't the filter do that already?

Yes... you can hide unofficial servers in DC.  Just select that checkbox.  When I started playing, there weren't nearly as many private hives as their are now and I played a lot on the official server.  Due to my schedule, I learned to play DayZ by playing at night.  I learned to navigate by the stars and by the changing horizon (breaks in treelines and such).  I didn't even know about using the gamma exploit for some time.  It was incredibly intense.

Because the game has gotten to be so much more about PvP and people don't want to waste the time it takes to move around safely at night, nighttime is a wasteland.  I like to play with the gamma and brightness set correctly when I'm alone on a server, but I feel forced to use the gamma exploit when others are on, because I know that's what they're doing in order to be able to see without NVGs.

Funny that you don't see people doing that much in other FPS single player games.

being able to manually adjust brightness etc is why so many games abandoned darkness as a gaming tool right from the start. I remember fog in Silent Hill being pretty brutal to play in, makes you wonder why devs don't use black fog or something to simulate darkness around each player [or maybe it has been tried and failed?]

always hated night maps on C&C because it just made visibility horrible for you and not for the enemy AI.

Some of the vanilla DE servers are populated during their night hours.

However, since the 1.8 update, some of them either forgot to set the server clocks to local time again or deliberately shifted daylight into local evenings ... full of fail.

I have just set up a new 1.8 server with full day/night cycle, set to GMT 0.

Its Completely empty at the minute as its only been up for a little while and not got round to advertising it yet.

Its in Germany (Im in the UK), so good pings for most of europe. I get a ping of 7 - 14 on it

All the vehicles are untouched, and I have not added any custom scripts.

Staff positions will be coming available soon, should the need arise.

I stopped playing DayZ for a little while and only just got back into it, but want to keep it as close to vanilla as possible.

Feel free to join if ya want, just search BuildCraftSMP in dayz commander. Or use the IP 144.76.57.246:5802
