Bandit kills decrease humanity?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This evening I had the opportunity to run into a bandit in Elektro.  He died by my hand.

I lost humanity for this kill.  I thought bandit kills did not effect your humanity.  Is this new?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that you lose humanity for every kill because killing is always wrong, regardless of who you kill.

I've been told otherwise by various people, but I'm sure that I've always lost humanity.

It must've been changed at some point.

http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Humanity#Losing_humanity

(sure its old, but it was correct at some point in time)

  • A player will lose humanity points when injuring or killing survivors or heroes.
  • Receiving humanity for killing a bandit is dependent on whether their humanity is negative or not.

That's stupid. I've gotten bandit skins for self defence plenty of times. >.>

What is stupid?

You got a bandit skin by shooting bandits I presume?

Your post is lacking in information.

Well that site also claims that you gain 200 humanity from killing bandits if their humanity is negative, so I'm not sure that I'd trust the rest.

I think its the old wiki?  dayzwiki.com seems to be gone, so perhaps they ported it over to there?

I am almost certain it actually was like that at some point in the way back. Obviously not now.

killer's humanity changes according to "humankills" counter from killed character.

humanity change can vary from -2000 (killed character did not kill at all) to 2000 (killed character killed at least 18 other characters)

PS: it seems there is bug in humankills counter in 1.8

I am led to think that bandit kills that do not take any of your humanity off is if they have a negative humanity stat.  Some bandits might just have from 0 to 1999 humanity, since they could get survivor skin back if they reach 2000.  Since the humanity loss for killing a player takes some off of you if he is in the positive, that could explain why you lost some.  But maybe the mechanic changed since then; I dunno.

It's stupid because then if someone shoots me to improve their own humanity, they're

1: Shooting just to improve their humanity, which in itself is humanity banditry

2: I'm being judged and shot without having done anything wrong.
