question regarding the harvest of wood in SA

Recommended Posts

I do not have time to watch all the vids and read all the posts on this forum or reddit. I did some searching but have not found the answer. How will they handle the harvesting of wood?

From what I have seen, that is just using a hatchet on a tree and getting some wood stuffs eh? I know one mod actually has the tree fall down (and reset on server reset).

I don't recall Rocket saying how wood will be gathered. so i'd say we just don't know how it will work.

As long as the 'must be in a forest' criteria is gone I'll be happy.

Silly that I'm standing next to a tree but can't get wood from it.

7 Days to Die has falling trees that you can cut, watch fall, and collect the pieces from the ground.  Just saying.  Rocket better step up his A game.  :P

Yeah I have seen that. Would be great! Either use a chainsaw (super loud but fast) or hatchet (quieter then a chainsaw, but obviously slower) to hack trees down. Would be great if you could plant trees after chopping one down (collect pine cone and stick it in the ground using a shovel), and they grow to full size via growth stages or something. But I doubt that will be done. If they allowed tree chopping at all, it will require server restarts to reset trees. I am not really liking that to be honest. So..

I just posted an idea for wood gathering in the suggestion section which would not require server restarts. Just new kinds of spawns.

Pine cones themselves aren't seeds.  They grow pine seeds inside them which can be used for growing another pine tree.

Yeah I know dude. Tis just a simple idea for an object which can be used to plant trees. I am 35 and spend all my life (well other than the last couple years) in BC, Canada. Plenty of pine cones around there I can assure you  :P   In fact, as kids we used to have pine cone wars. They are nasty if you get one in the face!

Haha sweet!  I'm actually from Nanaimo.  Pine cone wars were the best.  Use to get in trouble from the noon hour supervisors in Elementary school.  Brings back memories. :D
