Back after months...DayZ any better?

Hell...its prob been a lot longer actually. I think closer to the end of last year. Whenever the talk of introducing dogs was first supposed to be released or something.

 

anyways...I left because the game was so full of cheaters it was unbearable. Id spend weeks with the same character, helping the medics, enjoying the game and then have to keep leaving servers and finding ones no one was on just to avoid being hacked and messed with. It literally just became frustrating to the point logging in wasn't worth my time. Kitten videos were once again more entertaining than an hour in DayZ.

 

However I love the game concept and would like to pick it up again. But the last time I played there were only two maps....the island that I never played on (PvP if I recall basically) and the regular standard one. Now theres like a billion of them.

 

Is cheating still a huge problem? whats with all the damn maps? whats mostly different from 6-9 months ago? I am currently on:

 

DayZ Commander: 0.9.1.69

ARMA2: 103419

 

I know these are probably hugely out of date..but there are now like 30 or more 'mods' to install and all have different versions and stuff. What gives?

 

I used to play with the Medics quite a bit on vent and it was fun. But Im wondering if its still the same ol BS and not worth it. thoughts?

Oh..and also for fun I purchased ARMA3 a few months back just to have it for future necessity incase DayZ went with the newer engine.

wow ok you missed a lot i haven't seen a hacker in game for 2-3 months now, theres been a lot of new maps new mods etc, some good some bad. I recommend trying DayZero if you are looking for that same experience you had when you first downloaded the game. Try epoch if you want to build houses and have a fun team (and imo kos experience). 

 

edit you are probably talking about namalsk which as you stated is very pvp orientated, taviana has been released which is great fun, podagorsk has just been released and thats what dayzero runs on (and chernarus). Theres some other interesting maps but most are not populated i would personally stick with good old chernarus

Apparently I HAVE missed a lot.

 

I was used to the good ol find a server, all the same map, play with fear of other players but cautiously with others in teams or something, find vehicles, fix them, help survivors, and just raid shops for supplies.

 

Sounds like a ton has changed. I also play a night when I did, CST (Texas, USA). So maybe the cheaters were on at night when less people were on.

Dayz Commander will help you download all of those, for DayZero, you will need Dayzero launcher. Join a whitelist server, public servers still have hackers.

Glad to see you've come back to apocalypse,

 

If you're out for a vanilla DayZ experience we run as tight a ship as possible.  In a game based on scripting there's only so much that can be done to combat the skiddies, but it's more secure now than it ever was.  Hopefully you're able to get all up to date and enjoy DayZ again.  It's been quite a trip over the last year, but you'll catch up quickly!

Yeah Jimmy, Ill look at US 3480 once I get the mods installed. Which mod are you running? I figured I'd install the common ones that seem to have a lot of servers, Origins, etc.

I am up to date with Commander and Arma, but didn't see yours when I searched.

 

I wonder if Ill have all my gear from when I last logged in like 9 months ago...or something like that...  :D

Well I am not sure how the hell I got sick...but its been killing me slowly. If your temp gets too low, can you get an infection? shouldn't that only happen from zeds or bad water or something?

 

im low on blood and had to log off for now near Novy...hopefully I can get someone to get me some antibiotics lol
