Yep happened to me last week. Put an entire clip of pdw in his head before he decided to die.

It's a combination of overloaded server and database, bad net code, bad net and bad pc.

You'll be pleased to know this happens in arma 3 as well....good job BIS!!! Same engine, same bugs just looks pretty pffft

You should have more than enough time to shoot them between the player starting to stand up and them being ready to shoot. :S

just tested this on 1.8 

 

m14 body shot knocked player out.

1 shoot to the head killed the player

 

Tested again

m14 to body knocked player out

2 body shots killed player.

 

We need to do some more testing to see if it was blood loss or gun shots that killed the player during body shots.

Not when you put all your bullets into someone.

 

In versions where it's occurring it is a consistent occurrence.  You know that they are going to take 50 damage per bullet because it always acts that way.  Even if it didn't if you shoot someone in the head even once and they don't die, then you know for sure that any more shots will not work and simply have to wait.

I have only had this happen once it was on a dayz server with extra buildings and I think a few custom scripts (auto fuel and towing) I shot someone about 400 m with an m24 the first shot knocked him out I the preceded to put about 5-8 rounds into his body with no effect he even had time to get up get to cover and bandage with out bleeding out somehow. I believe however it was the lag because at the time this server was lagging very bad and was close to reset so it may have been that

Hope this helps:

the issue is a combination of lag and how the server database is coping. When a player dies their database file is written off as dead and a new file is created for the new life.

If that doesn't happen or gets lost in internet land then the "dead" character is stuck in limbo till it catches up.

Same issues in Arma 3!! Strikes me that BIS have given the same engine a glossy coat of paint and not much else (other than a map which needs a lot more optimisation)

I might be off on a tangent here but,

Any chance the knockout timers could be severely reduced in game?

I never understood why those knockout timers can randomly go from 30 seconds-ish to 10+ minutes.

Why not max it out at say, 30 seconds?

There is a max of 5 minutes.
