Why you need DayZ standalone argue points.

Recommended Posts

I have a problem, the DayZ standalone will be showing up soon and I'm worried I'll be playing alone.

I need to convince a couple friends how the standalone is so much more than the mod has ever been, what should I mention about the standalone to impress my friends?

Hmmmm....let me think

- Better security = less hackers

- Hogties and cuffs

- Better melee system

- No more buggy zombies

- Crafting

- Better medical system

- Improved UI

- No more annoying errors and crashes, easy to install (thank god for steam!)

- Weapon customization

- More optmiization

That was just off the top of my head, theres so much more though!

- No more buggy zombies

I wouldn't quite use this one yet since Rocket hasn't actually fixed the zombies yet lol

- Crafting

- Improved UI

Both (crafting and new gear UI along with weapon quickswitch) are included in 1.7.8 dayz patch to be released next week  :P

Taking into consideration that it will be a very rough (eg buggy) alpha version without vehicles (and many other features, which will be added in time), I don't think it's a nice idea to "make" people buy it, especially if they are not hardcore DayZ fans (those tend to ignore bugs and problems). For all you know, you may get bored with it in a month and go back to the mod.

Personally the only viable/stable argument I can think of is the fact that buying it while in alpha will cost you less than buying it as a retail game. So you could save some bucks. But then again, even buying it as a retail game, I'm pretty sure it'll be included in big steam sales and such. So not much of an argument afterall.

It seems the only true argument is the "buy it as soon as possible so you can help the progress of the development" one.

they must be really sofisticated players..i convinced my friends by letting them watch me play the mod(some joined from there) and saying: look...SA will be so fucking better you'll loose your job and girlfriend and family and you'll be probably able to take a shit ingame.

Pretty shallow and stubborn really.

He wants dive kick a game where you can dive and you can kick.

I showed one of my friends the devblog and he doesn't like the UI? Wtf is wrong with the UI? He still thinks the game is bad ;~; I don't get it even when I say alpha!!

The UI is impressive... compared to the old UI... nonetheless excellent for what it will be used for.

Wait for the alpha to go public, watch youtube swell with the flood of videos, pick and choose the best to awe and amaze your friends.

But if you want them to become interested in the game before then... I don't know, they're your friends.

Show them the ui in Skyrim or Total War: Rome II, and the DayZ ui will look absolutely golden in comparison.

What does Rome 2 UI look like?

I can make 100 arguments.. - at the moment.

The thing is, we all do not know in which direction the mod is going... ;)

If we see base building, more enterable buildings + more buildings - I personally do not need a standalone ;)

Small buttons with stylized symbols on them that doesn't give much of a hint about what the buttons do.

Same with the unit cards. It's very unintuitive compared ti Empire's for example.

Don't try to convince them to play a potentially very buggy alpha,

Wait for the gameplay videos to flood youtube and allow them to make their own decision on whether they want to buy the game.

I also do not like the textures of the standalone - the skyboxes etc. looks so friendly.. :D

In a zombie-apocalypse the world do not look friendly :D

A zombie apocalypse would not effect the weather.

You're thinking of a nuclear apocalypse.

better optimization higher fps no lag

no abuse of admin tools

no exploits of admins ruling dayz giving themselves gear or vehicles whenever they want or the crew they play with.

less cheats (hopefully long term)

better features , ideas , customization.

dude get arma 3 and download zoombies, then show them

or even better google:

arma 3 breaking point mod

show them the video

even better still!

- goto  frozenlime's twitter, find the Teamspeak server, goto it, be patient and wait around and be nice to admins..

-they let you whitelist and play breaking point a3 early

- this mod will crush dayz SA.

- it is almost complete too, almost ready for public release I hear

this will surely convince them, i showed a buddy me playing BP for a3, he couldnt believe how polished and well done it is.

all it is lacking is players atm..just 5-10 testers on servers if your lucky.

  • Chernarus plus (the new map is infinitely better)
  • Lootable clothing
  • The new loot system where you have to actually look for loot (it doesn't just spawn in piles any more)
  • An FoV slider!
  • Less cheaters
  • New medical system
  • Improved HUD and inventory system
  • Weapon customisation
  • Prettier graphics

That's about all I've got off the top of my head, but it's definitely going to better than the mod in pretty much every way, haha.

Zoombies is a buggy mess...

It was nice to see DayZ with A3 lighting but I played it once for an hour and I doubt I'll ever go back to it.
